Wooo.. glad to see I'll be taking some records to retirement . Also, who the hell is Hub Perdue and how did he get away with walking eighteen batters in one game?

Congrats. Two for Baleyi and now 1 for Woody. 3-straight for the Phils.

Ben's 109 Runs were no doubt a direct reflection of Woody's 111 RBI.

C'mon Philly get some pitching!!

Your guys should tell Philly's management about that hurler with some crazy skills languishing away in Brooklyn's pen.

I'll be on the road for the next couple days, so, unfortunately, there won't be any updates until at least late Saturday night.

THE CHRONICLE - VOLUME 21, ISSUE 1

JANUARY 1, 1921:
With the effusive response to the skyrocketing increase in homers, you can definitely count on the trend to continue. Boston's Joe Jackson and Tris Speaker are getting up there in years. Jackson is 32 and Speaker is 33. Having lost 4 World Series in the past 10 years, 2 to the Giants and 2 to the Robins, Beantown fans are beginning to wonder if someone has placed a curse on them. They will once again be in the hunt, but can they get this monkey off their back? The National League will definitely involve Brooklyn, but they need to watch out for the young Phillies. With Ben Baleyi and Woody Woodworth anchoring their lineup, this team will have no problem scoring runs at all.

Prospect Watch: CONRAD "COOT" HICKS

It's hard to believe this man is only 21 years old. His prematurely gray hair and grumpy cantankerous nature often gives the impression that he is 20 years older, in the twilight of his career. Naturally, fans have given him the nickname "Coot". Despite his taciturn nature, he has gaggles of awed scouts who constantly drool over the things he can do with a baseball. His ability to make the ball plummet from shoulder level to ankle level should cause many a batter to ground into a double play. we should see him in the bigs by the end of the season.

Talents (Stuff/Control/Movement): 81/70/99
Current Ratings: 42/37/63

THE CHRONICLE - VOLUME 21, ISSUE 2

OCTOBER 3, 1921:
Babe Ruth has emerged as the top slugger in all of baseball as he became only the second player ever to reach the 30 HR plateau. Too bad the Tigers have no supporting cast to take it to the next level. With the focus on The Bambino, the Red Sox dominated the AL yet again, winning their second pennant for a rematch against the team that has defeated them in their last two postseason appearances. this may be their best chance. Brooklyn appears to have some chinks in their armor....finally.

Everyone expected Brooklyn to dominate, but the Phillies made it interesting in the final couple of weeks, until the lowly Cardinals and Braves decided to play spoiler and allow the Robins to scratch their way back into the World Series. Ben Baleyi had another career year with his second batting title and Woody Woodworth led the league in RBI. If they get one more pitcher, they should be able to surpass brooklyn very soon.

Let's hope Babe only hit 30 or 31 homers, let me hold the HR record for at least a whole year.

BRAD VEST: Vest rotted in Cincy's minors all year. It's doubtful that he'll be back in the majors ever again.

JAKE SCOTT: Scott's pitches just seemed to hang in the strike zone this year. Unless he regains his composure, it is unlikely that he'll reach 300 wins, previously a milestone that was deemed a given. He did become the first pitcher ever to crack the 4000 K mark, though.

ALAN LIAO: Another season without injuries has other players considering wearing the Liao Batting Helmet. Perhaps he should patent it.

PROSPECT WATCH, part 2

MIKE 'MOLASSES" O'DONNELL: Molasses has management confounded. He obviously has talent, but he so often chokes that he has been sent to the bullpen as a mopup man. He has a couple solid outings, then has his ass handed to him in a total collapse. Will the real Mike O'Donnell ever show up?

JOHN "SHELLY" SHELTON: Shelly is about to play in his 5th World Series. His run production doubled this year. It could be argued that, by the end of his career, Shelly could be considered one of the greatest leadoff men ever.

THE CHRONICLE - 1921 WORLD SERIES PREVIEW

AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPION: BOSTON RED SOX (93-61)

Team Batting Average: .279
Team ERA: 3.51

Top Batters:
Joe Jackson - .372, 82 RBI, 57 SB
Tris Speaker - .315, 101 RBI, 36 SB
Parker Anderson - .299, 72 RBI, 38 SB

Top Pitchers:
Urban Shocker - 22-14, 3.41 ERA, 181 K
George Ruth - 23-15, 3.14 ERA, 94 K
Clarence Mitchell - 23-12, 3.19 ERA, 78 K

NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPION: BROOKLYN ROBINS (94-60)

Team Batting Average: .277
Team ERA: 3.22

Top Batters:
Edd Roush - .314, 63 RBI, 47 SB
John "Shelly" Shelton - .342, 104 RBI, 53 SB

Top Pitchers:
Stan Baumgartner - 23-8, 2.72 ERA, 148 K
Eppa Rixey - 18-14, 3.23 ERA, 791 K

This may be Boston's chance. Brooklyn's ace, "Smokey Joe" Wood, is out with a strained back, and it isn't known if he will return. The Robins' offense fall below that of the Red Sox. Perhaps that curse will end.

PREDICTION: Red Sox in 6

C'mon Yanks! Get some pitching, get some more bats, get your act together!

...it still kills me to say that about the Yankees...
