Unlikely hero lifts Chupahopra to game 1 victory

With triple crown winner Jim Stamey taking the mound for the Blithering Idiot in game 1, the home town crowd felt supremely confidant they would cruise to a win. The post season, however, is a strange and unpredictable beast, and the most unlikely of heroes tend to emerge. For Twisted X, it came in the form of light hitting right fielder Ken Nunley (9 home runs, 48 RBIs, .190 average during the regular season). In the top of the 8th, Nunley would come to the plate with the bases loaded, and would promptly clear the bases with a grand slam to give his club a 6-1 lead. Weyerbacher would try to chip away but would fall short as Twisted X would claim a 6-3 win to open their Milling Series.

Roberts, Commodores cruise to game 1 win

Ballast Point starter Mike Roberts tossed a solid 5.1 innings, giving up just 2 hits and 1 run, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts, before turning things over to the bullpen. David Jenkins and Mike Lewis would come in and hold down the Goslings to just 2 more hits and no runs as the Commodores claimed a 4-1 victory in game 1.

In a tight opening contest, Sierra Nevada took an early 3-1 lead, but Horsefly fought back to tie the game at 3 apiece in the 6th inning. The game would roll into extra innings before the final outcome would be decided. In the 11th inning, batting champ Josh Bomar would lead off with a triple, and Tim Phillips would notch the game winning single to drive him in, giving Horsefly a 4-3 victory

The post season, however, is a strange and unpredictable beast, and the most unlikely of heroes tend to emerge. For Twisted X, it came in the form of light hitting right fielder Ken Nunley (9 home runs, 48 RBIs, .190 average during the regular season). In the top of the 8th, Nunley would come to the plate with the bases loaded, and would promptly clear the bases with a grand slam to give his club a 6-1 lead. Weyerbacher would try to chip away but would fall short as Twisted X would claim a 6-3 win to open their Milling Series. stl jason Hall Of Famer Join Date: Apr 2006 Posts: 10,112	Milling Series - Game 1: #2 Ballast Point Commodores vs #3WC Goose Island Goslings Roberts, Commodores cruise to game 1 win Ballast Point starter Mike Roberts tossed a solid 5.1 innings, giving up just 2 hits and 1 run, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts, before turning things over to the bullpen. David Jenkins and Mike Lewis would come in and hold down the Goslings to just 2 more hits and no runs as the Commodores claimed a 4-1 victory in game 1. The game would roll into extra innings before the final outcome would be decided.
