Perfect August has Shinbone Poised at Pinnacle of OL S307
The Stars ripped off a 10-0 page off the calendar in August and have a near lock on the crown. The faint hope for their chasers is for them to suffer a total collapse during their remaining 13 OL games.

Bronze
West Burlington and South Holland battling for the top spot in OL B237. They have 6 games remaining against each other. Gem City has no remaining OL games. The title could fall to Route 66, if the Road Dogs are able to find a high gear in their remaining 12 OL contests. Sugar Hill could be the spoiler, having ganged up on the El Caminos recently. The Gang is 8-2 in the last 10 against South Holland.
No one will be relegated this season. |

Southpaws sign three for next season in Diamond
Southpaws have been busy recruiting, and just in time for next season, they would like to announce three key signings:
Hopefully Arky, Joe, and Mike will help us get where we need to go next season; hopefully the playoffs. Joe is particularly important since unlike almost everyone else in Diamond, we don't have Jackie Robinson.

similar to the Southpaws, a doppleganger of one of their signings will be joining Waffletown:
SS - Arky Vaughn (100) Alan Trammel will be sent down to the reserves to make room on the roster. Management would like to thank Trammel for his 17 years of service to the club. In that time, he appeared in 2434 games, with 9546 at bats, 2732 hits, 627 doubles, 224 home runs, 1308 RBIs, 573 stolen bases, 1484 runs scored and a career WAR of 54.3. He was a 6 time All Star, 4 time Platinum Stick winner, the AC Division series MVP in 2030, and a member of the World Series championship team in Waffletown in 2030. |

Gold League:
I realized that the Shiners didn't play either of Helthwyzer or Silly, and only played 3 against Waffletown. Not having to go against the strongest teams obviously helped Knockemstiff, but I'll take it! Good luck to everyone in the playoffs!

Don't sell the Shiners short. They had a good season and deserve the OL title. I hope we can remedy the scheduling issue and play some games against you in the World Series.

Stars Stroll to Easy Win in OL S307
Shinbone completes their leisurely chase to the silver crown.
I have company this weekend, so will be posting crowns, etc. later on this evening. Also, I will not be doing the relegation/promotion list today or going forward. The time I've spent doing has had little effect on friends list operations. It seems the lower levels of OL are going to be haphazard no matter what. I must say that, after almost four full months, this version of PT hit bottom for me, in terms of interest, much more quickly than the previous versions. If not for OL, I would have moved on already. It's pretty obvious that there will be no Willie Mays for me. I have banked more than a million PP for his pursuit and he still doesn't seem to be on the horizon. I am not sure whether to scan the AH for the first time in many weeks to find a few pieces to tweak my interest or to bail from the tourney scene and just open a hundred or so packs a week until the PP is gone. I'm gonna give it some thought this week and figure a way to go by coffee time next Saturday. Anyway, good luck to those teams playing on. Will check in later this evening. |

Stanley I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for you to not be able to get your favorite player for so long. But I am willing to bet anything you want that Willie Mays will show up as the Giants franchise hero 3 reward. To get ready for that you should complete the Giants’ missions that have been released. It should not take many PP to get there. I’ve bought some of the reward cards needed (like Jeff Kennedy) but I completed missions or other cards. You can really do whatever is cheapest. If you do the FH#2 Mission for the Giants you end up with Gaylord Perry who is a very good pitcher and will undoubtedly be an asset to your team.
This game can be very frustrating for F2P players. Seems like the two main ways to generate PP are to hit the tournaments hard or to speculate on live cards. I have been fortunate in both those areas but I certainly appreciate how this is not a way everyone can play. I would say they need to change things around to keep more people involved in the game but the sad fact is they probably are much more focused on getting whales then in keeping the free players hanging around. Anyway, your Willie Mays is coming, I know it! Hang in there. Last edited by Charlatan; 08-15-2021 at 09:07 AM. |

I'm just hoping to avoid the dreaded post season jinx in my first round matchup (Waffletown went 7-0 against their LDS opponent, so fully expecting to be swept in 3 )... going to try and fight my usual pessimistic expectations and hope for an all OL LCS and WSSyrups had a solid year in 2040 with their first 100 win season in a decade. Oscar Charleston picked up the home run champ bonus with 33 (also led the league in RBIs with 112); and Jackie Robinson had a stellar season, picking up his first batting title (.323 average), also led the league in hits (183), runs scored (110), OBP (.416), OPS (.912) and WAR (7.8); also stole 106 bases (3rd best) |

Final results for D357
Well, Southpaws tried to lose their way out of the crown, having a pretty bad second half.... but by splitting their intra-division games nearly evenly, NoWhere Men and Annandale gifted it to them anyway:
Cary Southpaws: 8-5 Annandale: 12-10 NoWhere Men: 11-12 Lemp Ave: 1-5 NoWhere Men are the only OL team to make the playoffs, while Lemp Ave. will be relegated.

I hate to say it, but Mays is screaming out to be some kind of 'Ultimate Topper'. That may be what Stanley is hinting at. Pedro being a TM2 topper is a ball ache for me, but completing the missions for Mays could be on a whole different level. Paxville are as stress free as possible, what with being packs-only. But it's making my head spin trying to figure out/decide what I want to do with Knockemstiff

West Burlington stumbled in the stretch, getting swept by South Holland to not only miss the playoffs, but handing the El Caminos the OL B237 title. South Holland will celebrate by facing Bluffton in the AC wild card game. Gear Terrace will be only other team in the playoffs, appearing in the NC wild card series.
Game of the day belongs to the final contest of the season between Bluffton and Route 66. It was a 15-inning affair, captured by the Boomerangs on a bases-loaded walk to Craig Biggio. |

I found I needed to invent new ways to make PT interesting. A while back I stopped managing Sugar Hill and kept them in OL and few weeks later I had the idea to strip the roster and build a historic gold team. They made the playoffs and went out early in their first season in Iron and have been below .500 ever since but have stayed in bronze and occasionally frustrated some teams. I am going to flip them to a 70's theme next and avoid cards above gold, even though there were some decent 70's players dropped and I have quite a number of PP since I sold off the diamonds/perfects to build the current team (I already had 12 of the gold cards). I want it to stay casual.
Coney Island has improved but I had to work at it. I have stated before it doesnt seem the game is suited to my taste anymore (give me PT20). Since I don't get enjoyment chasing down missions etc it has become a job not a hobby. It is a job I want to see through a bit longer but like Stanley, at some point I am either going to spend many of the points on players and/or packs and then they will just coast home from there. Next version Coney Island will be back as the one team I have but I will play them as I am currently playing Sugar Hill. In the meantime if the Warriors can get by Algoma, I am looking forward to paying back the Shiners for last weeks playoff loss. |

Until Later
Had a brief window to post the OL season awards. Will check back later to post any PT badges. As I said, I won't be posting league assignments anymore. I'm also not going to go looking through the universe screen to find playoff results for those leagues that didn't post OL standings. It seems apparent to me that the teams that go missing are more casual or even absentee participants. That's fine, but I'm guessing that they don't even notice that their teams have won, in many cases, so it's not worth the effort. Good luck to those teams still playing.
