August recap - division leaders:

Lager League - Pilsner Division: Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot - with a 17.5 game lead heading into September and a magic number of 15, the Blithering Idiot looks to coast to their 4th straight division crown. The pitching triumvirate of Stamey (18-3, 1.16 ERA, 341 strikeouts), Waddingham (17-7, 1.93 ERA, 245 strikeouts) and Daniel (17-1, 2.01 ERA, 231 strikeouts) will be a formidable force for any opponent in the post season.

Lager League - Kolsch Division: Twisted X Chupahopra - in the tightest overall division, Twisted X holds a tenuous 2 game lead, and sit only 6 games ahead of last place. After a 5th place and three 4th place finishes, fans of the Chupahopra are cautiously hopeful their club will make their first post season.

Lager League - Helles Division: Ballast Point Commodores - despite a horrendous month of August (12-17), the Commodores still hold a 6.5 game lead in the division. Their stretch run could be difficult, though, with the loss of key starter Jamie DeWitt (11-4, 2.59 ERA), who is out for the next 8 months with a torn rotator cuff.

Lager League - Tripel Division: Horsefly Jazzy Razzy - another mediocre .500 month doesn't give fans a lot to cheer for, but their team still remains atop the division with a 8.5 game lead. Second baseman Josh Bomar continues to have a breakout season, batting .378 with 5 home runs and 52 RBIs.

Stout League - Porter Division: Terrapin Hopsecutioner - cruising towards their 5th straight division crown, Terrapin takes a 17 game lead into September. While the division title streak is nice, players and Hopsecutioner fans alike want more than just a post season appearance.

Stout League - Dunkel Division: Four Hands Typhon - top ranked in batting average (.292) and on base percentage (.364) and 2nd in runs scored (729), Four Hands is hoping their high powered offense can carry them to their first division title and beyond this season.

Stout League - Eisbock Division: Russian River Blind Pig - with the division crown already in hand, Russian River looks to hone their offense and defense down the stretch in the hopes of back-to-back championships.

Stout League - Altbier Division: Stony Creek Crankenstein - clinging to a smallest of leads, Stony Creek takes a half game lead into September, as they look for their second division crown and second trip to the post season.
