Iron late Saturday update

Coming up on 10:30pm (ET), also known as September 26, 2039 in PT world. Ostego got swept earlier in the month (day) by Daytona Beach, and now begins their final 3-game OL series against Iron Maiden.

Meanwhile, West Burlington begins a 4-game set against Gettysburg. The Bullets have had a mostly forgettable month in OL, while division rival Route 66 has gone 6-2, with a 3-game series left against Las Vegas.

(Shoebox will be relegated)

I'm not holding my breath on this one. I'm also not holding my breath on any improvements to friends list handling. Those won't improve the bottom line.

Personally I'm leaning towards no PT 23 for me because I have zero desire to be an also-ran again. I need a pathway to victory, and the ones that are available require stuff that I do not have (money, time, or intelligence).

Prove me wrong, guys. Prove me wrong.

For right now I'm feeling slightly positive about PT. A lot of that is due to OL but mostly I'm enjoying the missions. Sure, it's a hamster wheel but I never had any expectations of getting to the Perfect League so bouncing in and out of Diamond level seems ok.

As the fall semester kicks into full stride and I start finding it harder to keep up with tournament entries even with GO I might change my mind.

For me, it's really simple. Any improvements in 22 (and there are plenty) are more than undone by the card limit. It may never even be on a lot of player's radars, but it's been a royal pain in the ass for me for a while.

Gold League:

Congratulations to the Silly Mad Brewers!

Waffletown gave it their best, but Silly were simply uncatchable.

Good luck to Lemp Ave. and Silly in the playoffs!

The big news for Paxville this week was finishing their 1st BaL... The bad news is that it's Pedro Guerrero

The worse news is that they haven't finished all of the latest missions - because I quick-sold every copy of some of the live golds in a panic at the last live update

Idiot

Patriots Out Run Kops Down the Stretch in OL S292

New York, 6-3, and Keystone, 12-7, were the only contenders to post positive numbers as the teams headed for the wire, with the Patriots claiming a narrow win.

There were no relegations.

Left Coast Holds on in OL B223

The Labrats lost their only two games in the final month, but their lead was large enough to go unchallenged by the other teams chasing them.

When it comes to playing PT Our League and its players is the only reason I am back. I probably should have only had one team although I did find a way to make Sugar Hill interesting for me (even though they may never finish over .500). Truth be told I would be more interested in a historic online league but it requires more of a time commitment than I am able to make. At least with PT if I want or have to go on auto pilot for a week or two here and there I am not effecting other managers in an online league setting.

It is apparent that I am not in the demographic the game has evolved to appeal to. That is OK, the company has to drive the game to where there is profitability and growth, it's a business.

I invested a lot of time recently on Coney completing missions I don't care about just try and make them competitive and it took time away from me playing the base game and FHM. For now I have a roster I am OK with and a lot of points in the bank so now I am going back to playing my solo games and let the team roll for the next several weeks. Besides the 84 Cubs just clinched the NL East, maybe this is the replay where I win them the WS.

This is my thought as well. Watching three teams struggle to be relevant is three times worse than one. I’m asking myself if I even need the new version if I’m mostly just going to go back to the classic game. Maybe I’ll find the OOTP magic again back in the original game.

congrats Mad Brewers on the crown.... Syrups gave it a good try down the stretch but knew it was a near impossible task... on the post season front, Waffletown had their fate in their own hands in the final games of the regular season but lost the last two games to finish 1 game back of the last wild card

gotta say I've actually enjoyed the mission setup this version... let the tourney packs slowly fill them in until I only needed a couple cards to finish them out and then nabbed them from the AH (typically wait a couple weeks after the mission release to let the crazy prices come back to reality before even looking at them)... have a handful of teams that I'm keeping my focus on mission-wise since i've completed most of their stuff to this point, so might as well keep going ...

no delusions here about competing with the big dogs, so just take each season as it goes... nice thing about that approach to me is it gives more time to play the standard game (nearing the post season for season 6 of the Beer League... if I get really ambitious, might try my hand at streaming some of those games and see if anyone shows up to watch )

Iron

Ostego led OL I232 from wire-to-...almost the wire. Stumbling down the stretch, the Lake Monsters dropped to third, not only seeing their title hopes sink, but dropping out of the postseason.

Meanwhile, West Burlington had their best month of the season and captured the flag in OL I232. As a reward, the Farmhands meet Gettysburg in the NC wildcard game. Route 66 and Sunday are also in the playoffs.

Shoebox will be relegated.

I agree in general, and it's sooo much more packs-only friendly. BUT... that just makes the bottleneck effect of the limit more annoying, 'cause I want to get more stuck in to those missions .

To those who have been saying they are going back to the base game, I agree. I miss it.

Uh, if by base game you mean Franchise Hockey Manager, sure.

Although I did find something interesting a few days ago when I was retrieving something from the attic(see attached). I'm sure if I look further, I'd find a few thousand cards.
