Iron
Ostego stays in front. Iron Maiden stays in back. Look for both to continue in those positions.
Shoebox and Iron Maiden in the relegation zone. |

Gold League:
Lemp Ave. dropped off the pace a bit, and Waffletown went 11-2 to jump into 2nd, but Silly are still storming away with it. Can anyone mount a challenge? Paxville's end of season collapse started on day 3, which is a bit worrying

Algoma Takes Top Spot in OL S292
Only 6-1/2 games separate the teams from one to eleven.

Iron (Maiden)
No two teams have played as lopsided a series as Ostego and Iron Maiden. The Lake Monsters have dominated, 12-1, to grab not only the lead in the NC Central, but OL I232 as well. Only 11-10 vs. the rest of the OL, Ostego remains far in front, with a close race only for second place.

Gold League:
Not many games, so not a lot of change. Helthwyzer are sneakily lining themselves up for a potential challenge. Paxville have fallen flat on their face, going 1-9 over the last 2 days <sigh>.

The race has slightly tightened. Only Iron Maiden in relegation zone.

Looks like Silly are cruising, but there's the slimmest chance that Waffletown can catch them. Paxville had 12 1-run losses in a month, which I'm sure is a PT record for me. Depressing.

Left Coast in Familiar Spot In OL B223
As the September run begins, the Labrats seem settled in nicely to continue their run to the crown.

Warriors Lead Crowd of Contenders Down the Stretch in OL S292
Coney Island moved to the front as the teams turned for home, with more than a half-dozen teams entertaining legitimate aspirations for the crown.

The Warriors and Shiners are going toe to toe in the center of the ring again this week and start today with their final four head to head. It's a week where the random numbers are working in Coney Island's favor, we will see what happens come playoff time. It is usually the time where the wheels come off.
Every week I am waiting for a Tris Speaker or Willie Mays to drop. Five months into the game I hope we are getting close. I love Mays but Speaker has been on every Warrior team and was Coney Islands first pick ever in the APBA computer league I was in some 20 years ago. Previously I could play Speaker in left and Mays in center but I don't think Speaker will qualify for left now. Sugar Hill is slipping and may get relegated. I am surprised they hung around in Bronze as long as they have. I have started accumulating cards that will replace this team some time after labor day. It is going to be an all 1970's team (the card doesn't have to be a 1970 but the player had to play in the 70's). I was thinking about rebranding and bringing back the Boogie Knights but I'm not the Cleveland Indians. Back from a two week work trip and off on vacation starting Monday. Most of my monitoring/tourney entering has been done on GO. Also trying for the 4th time, this time on GO (APBA computer, OOTP and MLB Manager previously) replaying the 84 Cubs to see if I get them a WS win. APBA got swept by the Tigers in the WS, OOTP finished 3 games by the Cards in the NL East and lost to the Padres in 4 in the NLCS on MLB Manager. Its not that I am or was a huge Cub fan but from 82-85 I worked at a baseball camp and got home around 3:30 and we had WGN as part of our cable package so I would catch their games and got caught up in the team and Harry Caray. Harry once said- "I'll tell you what's helped me my entire life. I look at baseball as a game. It's something where people can go out, enjoy and have fun. Nothing more." I think we need more Harry's and fewer guys who announce the game like it's a science project. |

I would add in a Scooter Rizzuto, Bob Murphy, Ralph Kiner, Lindsey Nelson, Bob Prince, Russ Hodges, Vin Scully, and so many more. I often listen to old time baseball recordings when I work from home and really enjoy revisiting my youth, although now I don't have to press my ear up against a small transistor I had stashed under the pillow. Although the Scooter and Ralph Kiner were guilty of the occasional malapropism, especially as they got older, when they were a bit younger and really on their games, each lent an authentic top flight player perspective, and were fine story tellers. Neither seemed too full of himself and both were always willing to acknowledge the abilities of the "current" players. The audio quality is not always the best, but they are worth seeking out. As for Willie Mays, I have about given up. It's pretty apparent that his card will be an end-of-the-line reward, I guess as the franchise hero. I have not been checking the AH to find players for Port Ruppert for some weeks, thinking I'd save up my PP for Mays' arrival. I've only been spending a few hundred to a thousand per week to complete the odd mission or two. My tourney packs have been averaging about 120 per week, so the pot has built up a lot. After 140 or so with this morning's coffee, I had grabbed three live diamonds and enough live golds and duplicates to reach a milestone number after selling them(see attached). I'm thinking of cruising the AH a bit tomorrow, just to get the best players I can afford and say the hell with it. This has been the most disappointing version of PT yet. Thankfully, the best version of Our League has made up for that. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 08-07-2021 at 09:47 AM. |

yeah, it'll be a stretch for the Syrups to steal this one.... if I calculated right, if Waffletown goes 10-0 in their final OL games, the Mad Brewers would need to go 4-6 in their last 10... and Waffletown is probably heading into a down month (21-6 in June, 11-15 in July, 18-8 in August....) but maybe they will surprise me... that solid month in August has pulled them within 4 games of Lemp for the division crown and within a half game of a wild card spot

Ostego still in front. The Lake Monsters with 3 games remaining against both Daytona Beach and Iron Maiden. West Burlington with 4 games left against Gettysburg.
Playoff position for OL pretty strong right now, with five teams slotted for the postseason at the moment. Shoebox and Iron Maiden trying to avoid relegation. |

Paxville just hit a million too. If I wasn't so damned flakey, they'd either have a lot more, or a whole lot less

The Algoma Penguins will not win OL Silver so congratulations to whomever does!
I did want to post as the Algoma Penguins had a long, long term goal of completing the Negro League missions and getting Jackie. After several months on a team that has never been much of a pack/PP generator it is finally complete. I think the team will get better! If you wonder if it is worth it to persevere even with limited success I think the Penguins have showed that. The team might even get promoted to Gold next week. |

I have to agree. At this point I'm just coasting. I know I sound negative a lot of the time, but this year's PT really put a damper on OOTP for me. Since I'm not one of the ones investing heavily into the game, I'm well aware that the game will continue to be designed to cater to those that do. Maybe I'm just getting old, but the effort to try and track the best path through the missions was too complex and uncertain that I ultimately chose to just open packs and hope for the best. That said, I want to give kudos to everyone involved in "Our League" because had it not been for you guys and your posts, I would have quit PT months ago. Here's hoping PT 23 leans a "little bit" more toward those of us that don't have a bottomless checkbook, and a nod toward making the F2P players get a few improvements that will keep us interested longer (like improvements to the friends list!) ?
