Ok. That's you. I would never criticize that approach.

But everybody ain't required to react like Ragnar.

And let's keep in mind, Neal may not be aware he sucks. He might be the Angel Hernandez of offensive linemen,

Weird. I enjoy my job and generally my workplace is nice enough to allow me to roll those days over so I only take sick time when I'm actually sick. I wonder if pro athletes love their job or are lazy, hmm...

The fan base may not do something for him directly, but they're the reason he's getting paid. No fanbase, they wouldn't be in NY.
lol no the reason he's getting paid is because he's (presumably) good at sports. The moment it becomes clear he's not, all the sucking up he does to the fanbase won't change the fact that he's out on his butt. Personally I don't think he needs to be either arrogating himself to the fans or sucking up to them but instead spending time getting better so he doesn't get fired. Call me crazy. I don't think NFL linemen get "sick days" though if that helps you figure this out at all...

LOL, you could be right. But a lot of people consider how others will react as a result of what you say. For example. I don't know if this is filtered or not, so I'll just say the "R" word. I don't ever use that word. Everyone around me, and everyone I know uses it. It doesn't bother me at all. But I don't use it for obvious reasons. You just never know.

I actually like my job. If you take into consideration ease, level of responsibility, and pay, it has to be one of the best jobs in the country. I too can roll over my sick days. Vacation days as well. I can even sell back my vacation days. I choose to do none of that because my free time is more important to me than being at work.

There are 365 days in a year. I'm working 60% of those days. I think that's enough. Keep in mind that my job is not like most jobs. It's not possible to be lazy or hard working. It's not even a job you can be good or bad at doing. It's not very rewarding. But it's stress free with 0 responsibility.

My wife had a stressful job that made her sick and forced her into an early retirement. But hey, she made 6 figures.

First time watching Stroud closely as a pro. He looks good for a rookie. Plenty of poise and gets the ball out quickly. He's still surrounded by the Texans, so there's a limit to what he can accomplish.

You knew it was going to eventually happen. Daniel Jones has shown a certain amount of toughness just by remaining upright this long.

How bad is this? Seriously, I want to know cause I'm not aware of how many picks are expected to hit.

From the last 5 drafts the Panthers have 39 picks, 13 are still in football & on the team, 6 actually start.

This is an excellent question. I would love to see those statistics for every team.

The Cowboys currently have 12 starters from the past 5 years. I didn't count the one's still on the team. But the Cowboys have drafted well over that time. For all the good it did them last night.

I would imagine 19 players out of 39 still being on the team isn't bad.

To my knowledge that's a poor but not terrible rate of players still rostered and a slightly below average rate of starters. More anecdotally I'd say the Panthers have valued the draft (especially the early rounds) fairly poorly, using premium picks on lower value positions like linebacker and run stuffing D-Tackle (although Derrick Brown has done better than I would've expected). The trade up for pick 1 costing the team DJ Moore really hurt as well given that guys like Terrace Marshall haven't panned out yet.

It kind of looks like it's the last 2 drafts in particular that haven't really panned out. Bryce Young of course has been very meh, but their other 2 top picks were Jonathan Mingo, who's been underwhelming, and a linebacker who's barely played. Last season they used the 6th overall pick on a tackle who's also been pretty bad on a trash offensive line, didn't have a 2nd round pick at all, and wasted their 3rd rounder to take a flier on a small-college QB who's now a member of New England's practice squad (I bring up the small-college thing just to note that they probably didn't need to spend that much draft capital on a guy like that, which looks doubly bad since they barely even gave him the time of day).

It probably gets worse before it gets better too. This is waaay too early for takes like this but Young might wind up being one of these guys who doesn't really figure it out until after his rookie contract has expired and he backs up someone somewhere else. The fact that he's undersized probably doesn't help if I'm being honest.

dola,

This graph is pretty enlightening, I think:

https://twitter.com/FF_TravisM/statu...9B7aUlfAg&s=19

You can live with guys like Sam Howell and A-Rich being up there on that list since they're young (and of course mobile; mobile guys do tend to run into sacks a lot while they're trying to make things happen) but Danny Dimes and Deshaun Watson have reached a point in their careers where they really need to do better. Also a little surprising that Russell Wilson is middle of the pack in this statistic after being a guy who looked unable to get away from the rush but also like a guy who thought he still had that kind of speed as of last year. And of course, the 3 guys with the lowest actual vs expected sack rates are Mahomes, Geno (who makes sense), and... Mac Jones, proving that you should not be looking at this metric all by itself.

Correct me if I'm wrong. This chart is showing how much to blame the QBs are for their sacks?

If that's the case, Howell doesn't surprise me. He holds on to the ball far too long. It's actually noticeable. You're screaming, throw it.

I read or heard somewhere that the trend towards mobile QB's has resulted in many of today's QB's not having learned the art of throwing the ball away. I'd say the sack probability chart mostly supports that, with some obvious and expected exceptions.

I'm sure most posters here would say I'm pretty much up on sports news in the major leagues. I'm no Tom Brokaw, but I do keep up w/the major headlines. And when I find something interesting to me, to the dismay of some here, I will post links on this forum for discussion.

But sadly, I'm not surprised that Michael Irvin having settled his $100M lawsuit vs Marriott OVER A MONTH AGO completely escaped my attention. Where was the fanfare in comparison to when the accusation went out? This man had his rep ruined, multiple jobs taken away, yet no one thought to make a big deal out of it when he was essentially exonerated?

This is one more example of how the rush to punish, the fear of bad PR, showing your belly to attention seeking agenda groups unfairly damages the innocent. I, for one, don't know why he went back to the NFL networlk. Cause I would be sicking my lawyers @ their rear ends as well.

You've seen me type this 100x's in some form or another & I will do it for the 101st time: It is not the corporations' responsibility to police society. It is society's responsibility to police the corporations.

Society has enough of a hard time trying merely do poorly what it is supposed to do. Goodell, Silver, Manfred & Bettman are even less equipped to do the job. The same mental illness that caused a woman to instigate Emmitt Till's lynching has not been cured. I do not in any shape or form deny the female gender has been forced to suffer an inordinate amount of sexual violence yet see justice denied. But it is time to admit there is a portion out there, whether due to mental illness, histrionics, spite or plain old hatred & evilness, who have no quarrels about falsely accusing men of the most vile acts simply because they can, and will, get away with it. I mean, look at this case. This woman through all the evidence has been shown to be a liar, yet, we still don't even know her name, But the media had no problem dragging Irvin's name in the mud.

Can't we find a mean between "She was asking for it" & "guilty before proven innocent'?

This is always the case with the "news" media. A front-page story that turns out to be wrong gets a tiny page six correction note.

Serious allegations require serious evidence, and criminal allegations should be handled by law enforcement and the legal system.

But the media only cares about sensationalism.

Eddie Murray was infamous for not dealing w/the media. Then one broadcast, I think it was Palmer, said the reason why was because when Eddie was a rookie, a reporter went to interview his mom and falsely made her out to be troublesome. It was on the front page. When the newspaper wrote a retraction, it was a small blurb on the last page of the paper. He mostly refused to speak to them from then on.

I don't know that he was exonerated. He was probably paid some small amount because he was a nuisance to the hotel. Because everything they said he said and did, looked like it happened. At least the parts that could be seen. Right up to him slapping himself in the face twice.

One could say what he said and did was no big deal. I didn't think it was. If I remember correctly, at worst he was hitting on a girl. What's the big deal? But apparently the hotel had a problem with that. They have every right to treat him like they would treat me or you under the same circumstances. NFL Network, they just made a business decision.

I'm a long time Cowboys fan. Irvin is my 2nd favorite WR that ever played for the Cowboys. And still is. But he should know better. He's a high profile person. Everyone is not your friend.

What vid did you see that showed it was likely Irvin did what he was accused of? Cause the ones I saw showed a short unemotional exchange
that was witnessed to by bystanders.
