Pretty much two months left and we don’t even know a release date yet lmao.

What a rancid launch this year in every aspect, it’s pretty astonishing actually.

daves, was there a specific bug(s) that persisted in the old version? I'll be glad to look into it.
In trading, you could click "Make this work", add a suggestion, and then have the AI still refuse the trade. Infuriating bug.

So it’s July 7th - a full week after the magical June 30th date mentioned before to get rid of the old OOTP Go - and still, nothing. A specific release date is needed. At this point, just release it. And if there are any bugs, have us install updates for bug fixes like any decent app would.

I believe they will speak when they have tangible information to share that they feel is accurate and honest. To do so before would be irresponsible. For us as consumers should that not be good enough we have the privilege to not consume if we are dissatisfied. With that said, I plan to consume whenever the game is ready and don't feel like I am owed anything.

We're not owed anything, but I think expecting some kind of update a week after the previous app has been removed from the store is reasonable.

I guess some of us understood that release was imminent once the original app was taken down.

We're all speculating and guessing at this point because there is no update.

The release of the mobile game has always been a stark contrast to the desktop version. For whatever reason it seems there is more current information on Reddit or random tweets and podcasts than on the official forum that's dedicated to the game.

There is no release strategy that will keep everyone happy, but I think having any strategy that's clearly communicated would be an improvement here.

Is there going to be a rolling release like last year, where it's opened up to a few smaller markets first or are they just going for a big bang approach? Is there some big show stopping bug that has been discovered or are they trying to squeeze in another feature or two?

To me, any kind of information is better than silence at this point.

It is a very well thought out point and I appreciate and understand your position.

I guess for me having been a regular here for ten years it seems they are darned if they do and darned if they don't. I have watched (or read) them get flamed if there is any variation from what they say they are "trying but cant promise" or we are doing our best to get it out by X date and some take it as gospel. Which I think was part of the point I was making. Some make it sound that a phone app is their God given right.

Constructive criticism as you laid out in your post is an asset to a company or an individual generally garner better results.

I think the issue is that it's going to be a yearly launch now and this year's launch is going into the second half of the MLB season. Imagine the uproar if a game like MLB the Show came out in July. It's already hurting them and I know this game isn't nearly as popular, but it would be nice to know what their timeline is. We're a week into beta testing now so hopefully we're close? But we're just guessing at this point.

I'm going to download it once it becomes available, I love the game. But the delays have really hurt them with the more casual gamers and you've seen a lot of people are saying they won't buy now because of everything that's gone on. It's not good business and that's why people are getting upset

Try doing that with any other game, you wouldn’t even get a glance from the dev team.
I hope they’re at least paying you decently to kiss their ass. Basic customer service and feedback on something as simple as a ballpark release date of any “trivial”. It’s the basic industry standard for expecting a product or service at a higher level.

Na, just minimum wage 🙄 I can tell you love being disappointed. This is nothing new with the mobile version of OOTP. It will be released when it’s ready. You know this, everyone here knows this so why cry about it? I can wait, a few bucks won’t bankrupt me, the game is great and the only one worth playing. Do you have any other options?

Wal-Mart was my first job. When I was trained, they actually still cared about customers. We were taught to make eye contact and greet anyone within 10 feet. Never point to where something is, but take the time to walk the customer there.

Granted, this was back in '99 or so.

These days even the greeters rarely acknowledge you, and they're paid specifically to do that.

How the world has changed ...

So I would kindly request some pre-2000 WalMart level support and a small update on the current status of OOTP GO 23

I mean, maybe the fact that you’re expecting developers to treat you the same as WalMart greeters is the issue… not to mention, people tend to be massive jerks to people who work in customer service. It’s my experience as someone who used to do that that there’s a contingent of folks who think that you’re flat out less than them because you work a service job, and from that do things specifically designed to demean you. I remember working at a fast food place when I was young where this jackass got mad at us for some reason and just started dropping food on the floor as he walked through the restaurant. And man, don’t get me started on the people who want to return crap they clearly bought somewhere else or several years ago and who don’t have a receipt and then who yell when the price we look up for their 1988 era fax machine is one dollar…

Anyway, it’s bad that people treat WalMart employees this way. It’s hilarious that y’all think you’re going to get the same reception by treating people whose job isn’t to cater to your whims the same way - and I mean worse case scenario, if you actually did hound these people out of their jobs (which, let’s be truthful, you’re not going to make these folks cry like they’re a WalMart greeter; probably they’re just laughing at you), they’d just move on to the hundreds of well paying jobs available to software developers.

You catch more flies with honey than salt. You probably catch even more by not being a Karen.

None of this changes the fact that OOTP Baseball 23 has been a disaster compared to recent years' releases. The fact that people come here to discuss/complain/comment on it is a good thing. When no one cares, the game is in deep trouble. So far, I'd say the game and company will survive this year's disaster (no being privy to the amount of money the game is bringing in this year, obviously).

This year has been a big step backward compared to previous years, hopefully the team puts the next 8+ months to good use for OOTP 24.

Of course I don't expect the developers to go out of their to please me, and I don't expect Markus to be the one posting updates.

But I think it would be in their best interest to engage a bit more with their customers on a forum they created to engage with their customers.

The mobile has always felt like it's treated as an afterthought, going all the way back to the original MLB Manager. At least in the way things are communicated to us.

I agree that getting furious and venting on here isn't going to get us any further with the developers, but I can also understand the frustration of paying customers that have felt ignored for years ...

And I don't find it unreasonable at all to expect a software developer to announce a release plan and schedule before a new version of the game is released ...

Why cry about it? Because it’s a public forum for a company that gives out a product and that’s what it’s for? So if you don’t like me complaining about service that’s on you, but don’t pretend that the way things are going right now are anything less than disastrous.

You know this has nothing to do with 23, right?

Nobody has been “waiting for years” for the second iteration OOTP Go and their current “plan” is that it’s literally on beta right now. It’s being tested, bugs are being found and fixed, and I’m sure that when the bug count gets down to a manageable number they’ll release it. You want a timeline but that’s not really how software works - I mean, if you’re ahead of schedule you can set a date but they’re not and all a date does is add n unnecessary deadline.
