What nonsense is this? It’s the WRONG TEAM NAME. It ruins the history of the game and makes the play not just ahistorical but fictional.

Markus, see if the Management will allow game to keep "Spiders" as a name. I hate the change of nickname, but wanted Spiders. I have found that this harmless nickname ALSO defaults back to Guardians. That should not happen because the people telling you about Indians/Guardians have no rights to the Spider name, Image , and likeness.

This is a bug if it's happening, not intended. But I have not seen any other reports of this, so not sure what you might be seeing.

You're right that no one can change history.

What *can* happen, though, is that the owners of a trademark/brand say "I no longer allow you to use this brand, and you need to agree to stop using this brand if you wish for us to continue to license you all these other brands that you want to keep using." If McDonalds takes the McPizza off their menu, it means I can't go order one. It means even if I am shooting a movie set in 1980, I can't tell McDonalds that for historic reasons they need to make McPizzas so we can keep the movie historically accurate for the era it's set in. And if I keep asking McDonalds for a McPizza after they've said it's off the table, they won't allow me in their restaurants and I won't be able to order ANY of their food anymore.

It is fitting that you use a brand that has a clown as it’s main spokesperson as a comparison to Major League Baseball. Yes most of us agree the name change is overdue but also that trying to rewrite your history is very bad. But it’s MLB’s choice so you cannot blame Markus and OOTP for accepting it as the alternative would be no license. For historical players it is easy enough to mod so in that regard it should be a non issue.

Anyway, to direct the conversation in a more meaningful direction. FYI to all historical players editing the teams.csv works perfectly. I copied and pasted the one from OOTP23. My historical went from 1964 from OOTP22 to 1965 on OOTP23 and they are still the Indians.

The beauty of this game is how easy it is to customize.

You don't have to do that, just use historical logos, caps & jerseys and change the name to Indians in the game Functions/Edit league structure.

Agree or disagree with what Cleveland ownership has done doesn't really matter. Markus is just complying with the terms of the agreement. Without doing that he will not have his MLB license. I personally don't agree with removing the name from the history of baseball. Logos? Sure. Name? no.
Just my opinion and I'm not losing sleep over it.

What I find funny is I turned on MLB network yesterday morning. Kenny Lofton was on doing a instructional piece, hosted by an MLB network reporter, about base stealing. What was he wearing on MLB network? A Cleveland Indians jersey\vest with the smiling red face.

For all of the hubbub the new nickname has received in the past year, I think Cleveland made an excellent choice. The team name pays homage to the city and the logo and color scheme are not that radically different from before.

If you have OOTP 22 just copy and paste the Indians logos from the logos directory in the game file for 22 into the logos directory of 23. If you want historical caps & uniforms you can find them in the mods page or just PM me an e-mail address and I'll send you the ones I use.

Exactly. I personally preferred the "Cleveland Spiders" because their logo and uniforms were badass, but Guardians makes more sense and it looks good.
