It was a back-and-forth sort of game but the Angels came out on top 9-7 after getting to the normally unflappable reliever, Steve Delabar.

WP - Jason Vargas (8-5)
Save - Antonio Bastardo (22)
LP - Steve Delabar (3-1)

Record - 58-51

Boston won so the lead is back to one game.

WP - Hyun-Jin Ryu (6-8)
Save - Rex Brothers (30)
LP - Jorge de la Rosa (11-7)

Record - 59-51

Boston win so they are still back by one game.

This was a really tight game against the Padres until the Blue Jays exploded for 7 runs on the 8th, beating San Diego 9-2.

Danny Salazar pitched 7.1, allowing only 6 hits and a walk while striking out 5.

WP - Danny Salazar (8-5)
Save - Zach Stewart (1)

Record - 60-51

A Red Sox loss means the Jays have a 2 game lead.

Alexi Ogando pitched a great game, holding the Padres to one run off 3 hits in 8.2 innings. That combined with a 3-run double by Brandon Barnes and a 2-run blast by Anthony Gose to give the Jays the 5-1 win.

WP - Alexi Ogando (6-5)
LP - Clayton Richard (1-2)

Record - 61-51

A Boston loss and the Jays have a 3 game lead.

The Blue Jays continue to have the Padres' number as they beat them 12-6 to finish the sweep. Eric Hosmer hit two homers to rack up 5 RBI. Pablo Sandoval also went deep. George Springer went 2 for 3 with a triple, 2 RBI and 2 stolen bases.

WP - Colby Lewis (10-8)
LP - Casey Kelly (2-6)

Record - 62-51

A Boston loss and a New York win means that Toronto's 3 and a half game lead is now on the Yankees while the Red Sox have dropped to third.

The Vancouver Canadians top the power rankings for their short season A league.

The Blue Jays slipped one spot to #5 on theirs. (Still top AL team.)

Players of the week: Alex Rios, White Sox & Joc Pederson, Dodgers

The Blue Jays were cruising until an 8th inning homer by Josh Reddick and the second straight poor relief performance by Steve Delabar led the A's to a 5-2 win.

WP - Jarrod Parker (6-12)
Save - Sean Doolittle (20)
LP - David Phelps (8-8)

Record - 62-52

Boston won and New York was idle so now they are tied behind Toronto by 3 games.

The Jays were good on both sides of the docket as Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched a complete game where the only run allowed was unearned and Toronto pounded three homers - two by Brett Lawrie and one by George Springer - beating Oakland 9-1.

WP - Hyun-Jin Ryu (7-8)
LP - Dan Straily (7-11)

Record - 63-52

Boston lost but the Yankees held to 3 back.

It is one thing to be shut down by a top pitcher. It is another to be shut down by Ubaldo Jimenez. A's win 2-1.

WP - Ubaldo Jimenez (9-11)
Save - Sean Doolittle (21)
LP - Danny Salazar (8-6)

Tampa Bay and Boston win, New York loses and now all three teams are 3 back from the Jays.

Not a good day for Toronto hitters... not that Cleveland was much better as the Indians won 1-0.

In the top of the 9th the Jays had men on 2nd and 3rd with only one out and both Robinson Cano and Pablo Sandoval were struck out by Josh Collmenter.

WP - Zach McAllister (7-8)
Save - Josh Collmenter (5)
LP - Alexi Ogando (6-6)

Record - 63-54

Toronto was the only active AL East team so their lead over the trifecta is two and a half.

A 27 minute rain delay in the 3rd seemed to completely unhinge Colby Lewis who ended up allowing 7 runs that inning on the way to an 8-5 Cleveland win.

Pablo Sandoval and Joe Reyes both went deep for Toronto. Sandoval got five hits. Carlos Quentin was ejected after arguing with an umpire.

WP - Chris Leroux (5-5)
Save - Josh Collmenter (6)
LP - Colby Lewis (10-9)

Record - 63-55

Boston was the only team who won out of the bunch so they are back by one and a half.

Ryan Duke signed a minor league contract.

Toronto beat Cleveland for the first time this year behind a 3 for 3 day by Eric Hosmer which included a homerun, 2 RBI and a walk. Anthony Gose went 3 for 3 with a walk and a sac fly.

WP - David Phelps (9-8)
Save - Rex Brothers (31)
LP - Bryan Shaw (0-1)

Record - 64-55

Boston won, maintaining a game and a half deficit, while New York and Tampa Bay are falling off the pace.

Toronto stopped Cleveland behind a big day by Anthony Gose who went 2 for 5 with an INSIDE-THE-PARK Homerun!

WP - Hyun-Jin Ryu (8-8)
Save - Zach Stewart (2)
LP - John Stilson (6-2)

Record - 65-55

All other AL East teams lost so the Jays are 2.5 up on Boston... just as Toronto is set to start a series against them in Fenway!

(Boston pulled within 2 on the Jays' off-day.)

The Red Sox nearly pulled off an epic comeback as they scored five runs in the 8th to pull within one but Rex Brothers lammed the door for Toronto, giving the Jays the 9-8 win.

Pablo Sandoval went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI. Tyler Moore went deep for the Jays.

WP - Danny Salazar (9-6)
Save - Rex Brothers (32)
LP - Matt Harrison (3-3)

Record - 66-55

Toronto is now up by 3.

The Boston defense kept the Blue Jays from ever staging a rally as the Red Sox won 4-1.

WP - Alex Cobb (12-9)

Now a mere game separates the Jays and Bosox.

A late explosion by Toronto put this game out of reach, beating the Orioles 11-2. Brett Lawrie went 2 for 4 with a dinger and 4 RBI. Anthony Gose also went out (while hitting in his 14th consecutive game), and Pablo Sandoval racked up 4 hits.

WP - Hyun-Jin Ryu (9-8)
LP - Esmil Rogers (1-1)

Record - 67-57

Botson also won so it is still a one game lead.
