Don't worry I did. Man, that match just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about my team.

I don't have high expectations for the Tomatoes' upcoming trip to Sweden. My team has gotten bashed in most of the sims I have run against the boys from Stockholm. Some teams just do not seem to match up well against others. |

I was 0-3 and the closest I came was a 16 point loss in my sims against Juggernaut ... so there is always hope!!

Sorry about your cat that passed. It's amazing to find one just like her, I'd guess. I hope you do find her pic . And I know about exes. One of mine, Psycho Bride, tried to take my Title Bout game just out of spite!

UTBA-II database update.
Sorry folks. I thought I sent Romy the update but I didn't. Since week two will begin sometime tonight, I'll wait and make sure the update is sent out right after the last team match is run.

My ex-wife ripped up my Strat-O-Matic baseball game on her way out the door 20 years ago.

Did you ever replace your Strat-o-Matic? That was/is a great game. I took the All Time Great teams from the various decades and played them against each other. The 1st year Mets that they included didn't fare too well against anyone! |

Yeah it was before I went to college .. during college I had a pretty good size strat-o-matic league going.
My ex-wife was one of those constant attention women ... I had a hard time just reading a book let alone playing a game without her. |

I'm pretty lucky I suppose: my Mrs. complains about my attention to boxing but lives with it. I still picture the day I come home and find my DVD recorders and discs out on the front lawn.

I took her out to the game on the weekend I wrote about in the OT thread and she loved it, as it was the first time she'd been to a game at Leichhardt Oval. |

Kelly is a NASCAR fanatic (she's from North Carolina) and will watch that by herself ... other than that she roots for my favorites (Notre Dame, Colts, Red Sox) ... the only sport she doesn't care for is basketball ... won't even pay attention to college ball.
She also loves the Atlanta Braves. Boxing ... she loves the same people I do except she hates Floyd. She likes Hatton a lot more than I do. She loves Calzaghe because he is "dreamy" ... I also thinks she likes Pavlik more than I do, and I love Pavlik. |

I caught the APBA bug in '64 after the Bears took the title. My wife also detests boxing. She lives with it though. Gripes about our digs looking like a storehouse for the books, magazines, and scrapbooks I've collected. Worst thing she does is to sometimes grouse about how horrible boxing is when I'm watching a fight and trying to score it. Our biggest sports disagreement involves football. Liz is a Packer fan which makes us a real mixed marriage. Bear

Now that my boy Brian Brohm is a Packer .... I'm back to rooting for them (they were my favorite team before the Colts moved to Indy)

I was mainly into the SI Statis Pro games sold through Avlon Hill. I liked the football game the most but setting it up on a table only big enough to lay out one defense and one offense (and that had to be cleared for dinner) made actually finishing a game an epic challenge. I loved the O line rating cards. I have forgotten over the last twenty five years what the formula was but I had OL rating that I made up. I assigned various point totals to outcomes relating to their blocking (some + others -) and then divided by plays. I think somewhere around a 0.70 rating was Anthony Muoz territory.
Ah - don't start talking geeky board games around me. I just end up staring into space and wasting even more time than normal!

Psycho Bride (ex-wife number 2-5, or at least it feels that way) also didn't like my hobbies, but I found a great reading room where I could always turn on a fan if she was on a roll! We had APBA baseball leagues in my youth, and now I've got to consider OOTP! The good news is you have a great wife now, from everything I've read, and I look forward to following Nate's collegiate career. |

Bear Oops, I tried to reply to Bear's post but got hooked to Bronx Bomber's. My neophyte status is showing through! ![]() The Mets were far worse than Mel Turnbow, in my humble opinion. I think there were about 40 top teams from the decades through the mid-60s in the Strat-o pool, and they threw in the original Mets (who my buddy loved). The staff aces were Roger Craig, Al Jackson and Jay Hook (on the 61 Reds featured in Jim Brosnan's book), who each lost at least 19 games, but they were the aces and pitched more than the others! Choo-Choo Coleman was one of their main catchers, though their main duty was to tally runs, not catch pitches. Frank Thomas, of Kenyan Cheeta fame in his uni, slugged about 20 homers, Richie Ashburn hit about 300, Joe Christopher may have been an outfielder, Rod Kanehl was their utility infielder, and their anchor was Marvelous Marv Throneberry, who hit about 300 and fielded the same! I could be off on some of these stats, but I think I am close. To think they topped my Birds 7 years later! Last edited by mikehoudini; 05-29-2008 at 10:01 PM. |
