My teams (except Motown) are starting to accumulate PP. Partly because I can't decide what to upgrade, and partly because the cards I want, when I see them, are often way overpriced.

There's a nice juicy card I'd love for Annandale that I saw over the weekend for.... I think it was around 20k PP. At the time I only had 17k so I couldn't get it. As a consolation prize I got the 89 Boggs card for my 3B issues. Pretty good consolation prize!

Motown has it the worst because the pool of players they can use is pretty small (1959-1988). So when a good card comes up I really want to get it, even if I have to pay a little over the average price. Frustratingly, there is a card right now that Motown desperately wants but is around 400 PP short of being able to afford. So I hope I get that PP today and the card is still there when I come home! Sadly, I bought a low-priced card yesterday for 1650 that was a negligible upgrade, so if I'd held off I would have had the cash! If nothing else, that speaks to why you should be patient.

Also, I dunno about you guys but when a team does really well I sort of promise myself I'll give the team some breathing room before making changes - for instance, since Annandale won the Silver League last year, I'm will probably hold off changing anything for this season, because they earned it! Same with my Venusville team.

I am doing the same with Palolo. They did well last year, so I am holding off on making big changes this year even though they are struggling.

Haha that would be fun. It's not what I'm doing currently, but if my plan fails I may go to the colour names.

The Little Rock Crayons were named in honour of my 1-year old daughter. Her favourite things to carry around are small rocks and crayons (especially the purple one). So Little Rock was the perfect city name, and Crayons for the team with purple as the prominent colour.

I'm having trouble with the logo though, not working properly... will fiddle with it at home.

So, I'm giving Terra Incognita breathing room after they came within an eyelash of making the World Series...and they're turning blue already. They seem committed to making their sojourn into gold very brief.


Actually my big problem is the auction house prices, and me. I have players that I like, and it is so easy to talk myself into giving them another season. How the hell do I dump Daddy Wags, or the Washington Monument (Frank Howard), or Willie Horton, or Bobby Grich, etc., etc., etc.? I'm getting close to just ripping packs and letting fate force my hand. Think it's time for my PT19 therapy. I fire it up, usually on Sunday morning, and five or ten packs to get my fix. It's been working so far. I've only ripped two challenge pack picks in PT 2.0.


Challenge mode hasn't been very productive for me either. I keep getting fired after four seasons or so, as I build teams into contenders. In my latest go round, I've been fired three times, with each team winning a World Series with my players. The Mets firing hurt the most. They won back-to-back during my first season with the last place Red Sox. I can't seem to get into the mode of trying to milk the game for packs. I get too invested in my teams, and can't get myself to take advantage of the AI in trades. Think it's time to fire up my old Strat-O-Matic for my recreational game play. Hmm, I know I have a ton of old cards up in the attic. There's probably some dice...

I keep forgetting to do challenge mode. I need to set up a reminder like some of the guys here do. As for stratomatic, I played that and also an Avalon Hill baseball game as a child. I think
I played the Avalon Hill one more often. It was the 80s. The same time I started collecting baseball cards. I would come home and watch the Braves on WTBS.
