This is a really bad one. Looks like he was driving through the desert with Rommel while wearing goggles.

The file name for my import of him was different (hammon001wal) so that's what I named the revised file.
I just used the sliders in facegen and focused on coloring him and didn't use a texture overlay... He seems healthier ![]() |

Yeah. He definitely lost his deathly pallor! Thanks! I'll suit him up and put him in the field.

Thanks for Mike Rex!
Thanks again, Landsdowne St.
Outfielder Dom Fucci had a good year for AA Glens Falls in 1980 and a better one at AAA Edmonton in 1982, but never got the call from the White Sox. The AI hasn't opened its checkbook for the Luzinskis and LeFlores, so Dom's getting his shot and doing well, so far: Sorry about this pic. I guess Dom's a shady character. Pitcher Gary Melson saw a lot of AAA cities, as the Indians kept moving their affiliate. ("Tacoma Tugs"?) Eventually he was swapped to the Braves (for Don Collins) but the 2.85 ERA he posted at Richmond in 1980 still didn't doing any good. The AI sees it differently, so Melson is now in the Atlanta rotation, taking advantage of the Yankees having lured Niekro north a few years sooner than in OTL. As usual, thanks in advance. |

Here's my best shot at Dom. The Dom_Fucci.fg is without the texture and looks rough and I think if I were playing I'd use the one with the texture pack overlay (fucci-002dom.fg).

Thanks! Melson "just" beat the Phillies (7 IP, 2 ER) as the Braves moved into a tie for 2nd in the NL West, despite Dale Murphy struggling at .194 BA.
Who's in first? The Astros, persisting despite losing James Rodney Richard to the Yankees (the Yanks signed EVERYONE) and Ken Forsch, Vern Ruhle, and Gordie Pladson to injuries. This created an opportunity for 1977 6th round pick Jim MacDonald, who IRL prospered at AA Columbus (GA) in 1980 and 1982, but flopped when given 1981 at AAA Tucson, and thus never made the show. Here, he's had two good starts in H-Town. Wish him luck, if only for the neo-Jim Bouton mop, won't you? |

It's all about the hair!
Yeah, that's unfortunate. But good work, still.
(MacDonald did fine in his latest start, holding the Phils to 2 ER in 8 IP. But Rick Waits was on his game, and beat Jim, 2-1. So it goes. [Waits has already thrown a perfect game this season. Even if it was only against San Diego.]) Back to actual major leaguers, I can't seem to find facegens for Bobby Castillo and Jerry Willard. Are they hiding somewhere, or do they need to be (re-)created? |

Easy enough to make - they both had available photos that facegen liked...

Whoops!
Apparently, I forgot the "search by first five letters of surname" rule and thus missed their files because i was looking for "Castillo" and "illo" but not "Castil". My bad.
(But yours were nice, anyhow.) Back to pure wannabes, after being an All-American 2B at Cal-Berkeley, Jeff Ronk lasted until the 34th round before the Padres drafted him, but put up some sweet numbers his first few years, including that .326/.401/.460 at AA Amarillo in '82. But the Brewers kept him in AA, and he stagnated, steadily declining the next three years until his release. Here he was taken in the 20th round by the Phillies, and after tearing up Reading (AA, you see) for a month, he's in the Show. Okay, then. 'stached and 'stache-free, your choice. Mr. Ronk was a tough one given the straight on shot was dark and purple-ish. Required a texture overlay to smooth it out and it looks much better for it.

Thanks. Ronk on!
John Hanley was a big guy (6'3") who could play infield and outfield, but the White Sox weren't impressed by the .788 OPS he posted as a CF for class-A Appleton in '78. (Even with the .387 OBP, alas.) Bumping it up to .881 in '79 got him a mid-season promotion to AA Knoxville, but when all he could manage was .712 there, he found himself banished to independent Redwood in the Cal League for 1980. A nice .886 OPS there got him back in the system, but after a mediocre couple of months at Appleton in '81, he was done. That was OTL. In the game, Hanley used the Redwood season to sign with Cincinnati, and when the Phils noticed that besides OF/1B/3B, he'd been putting in time behind the plate, they took him in Rule V draft, as they were barren behind Jerry Willard. Fastest way to the Show, as usual. |

I see his utility - the 1980 import of him plays a ton of positions and a very good catcher. I made two files. One with the mustache (hanley001joh.fg) and then one with a texture overlay that took away the mustache and open mouth (testmy_face.fg). If you like the no 'stache one, rename it accordingly.

Thanks again.
Craig Brooks must have gotten real tired of Winston-Salem NC, as the Red Sox kept him in Class A ball for four seasons. Yes, he got better every year, but you have to progress players, IMO. And yes, the Sox had Fred Lynn in CF, but that's not forever. Plan ahead! Finally, the 1.017 OPS Brooks posted in 1980 forced their hand, and Brooks was even better at AA Bristol in '81 (1.028). Albeit only in 50 games…perhaps there was an injury? This got him to Pawtucket in '82, but when he flopped there, he was 26 years old, and the team sent him back down far more quickly than they'd promoted him. In the game, the Sox gave him 469 PA in 1980 (Lynn and Yaz both battled injuries) and Brooks posted a nice .844 OPS. A bit of sophomore slump in '81 so far, but still. Could only find the one pic. (Don't know if the more recent [Caucasian, pitcher] "Craig Brooks" confused the issue.) Hope it's sufficient. |
