So my beloved Tigers have a chance to tie the Royals for worst record in the AL Central. You Twins fans need to get ready for a playoff game against the Sox. The Tigers quit about a month ago. My only prayer is that Sheffield manages to hit his 500th homer tomorrow and instantly announces his retirement from baseball. Sure the guy hits some pretty impressive long foulballs, but otherwise he is nothing but hot air.

I never liked Gary. Thought he dogged it as a kid with the Brewers so that they'd let him go someplace else. Always looked at him as a front runner and a blowhole. Never liked guys who laid down on their team and put themselves above the team. I'm too old school.

Saw a lot of jerks like that here. Claudell Washington comes to mind.

I found a reference from 2001 which showed the Sox having a bigger local media $ amount than the Cubs. Of course, those numbers are now 7 years old and may no longer apply.

FWIW, Forbes recently ranked the Cubs as the fifth most valuable team in MLB (behind the Yanks, Mets, Red Sox & Dodgers) and the Sox are 14th - below Washington(!), in fact.

The "market" portion of that: The Cubs market is worth $288 million, the Sox

So...if the total market is both of those numbers combined, the Cubs have about 60% of the market.

I'm glad we took the lead with Floyd as pitcher of record. After getting out of that first and third jam allowing only one run he's deserving of a win.

The way our pen has been lately I'm sweating the last 6 outs.

Yeah same here, but I think Buehrle stepping up yesterday and Floyd today will lead to good things. That is how this pitching staff has been this year. When a few are good, they are all good. When a few are bad, they are all bad. Hopefully the good trend continues.
