as long as everyone doesn't mind tying up that PD draft spot for most of the week, either the Saturday PD Perfection or the Sunday PD Perfection would probably be ideal if we're wanting to shoot for some nice cards (typical reward is a nice 100 card)...

the daily ones might be more difficult to nab a lot of spots in, as they do fill up fast; so if enough of us aren't around during the day, it will just be luck of the draw....

I've been playing the dailys with the 10K top prize lately... just nabbed 5K overnight in one for 2nd place

Yes, pack-only can be "hard" at times. "Sticking to your guns" (no AH purchases) can be hard to go through especially when you need one more card to complete a good mission reward, and it is available in the AH and only costs 40pp-60pp! Instead of "giving in", you battle the temptation for several weeks until you finally get your needed card in a pack that you open!

On the other hand, pack-only is so very rewarding when things go very well for my team and you pull good cards from your packs.

Also, pack-only frees up so much more free time since I am not "living" on the AH and wasting hours and hours of time every week, looking for a deal or a card that "might" work out well for my team.

As we all know, just because a card is rated a 98 or a 100, doesn't mean that player card is any good in the game and just because a player card does well on one team, he could very easily be a "total dog" on your team!
With a lot of effort (and more time than I now have), my best team in 21 has made 6 PeL playoffs, but it really (REALLY) wasn't very enjoyable putting together that meta team. My 21 packs team has made 1 Diamond playoff, yet each step of progress has felt so much more rewarding and enjoyable.

The missions are much better this year, so a packs team will steadily be fed with more rewards than in 21. So, even if things slow down at times, the next little buzz is always possibly just around the corner!

At this point, I can safely say that PT is the first game I've learned to enjoy not winning, however, OL has to take a lot of credit for that these days

I gave up on the dailies - I've just had too many terrible drafts!

Jason, I've got to make a confession... The last 2 days I've had to do a re-count for the league totals, due to being determined to lumber the Syrups with an extra 2 losses. I did it again this morning - even though Waffletown didn't even play any games and had the same totals as yesterday

Diamond 363 standings

In PT, Nowhere Men leading their division, Annandale leading WC. Lemp Ave. . . . well, we're happy to report we've seen a decrease in fans being ejected for lewd behavior. But, TBH, attendance is down.

But, OL play is going well for us.

As of Aug 5:

Lemp Ave 12-4
Annandale 2-4
Nowhere Men 5-11

I'm in. Would try to coordinate Dailies as well (just joined PD Daily 4 for instance, lots of space, if anyone is interested).

Bronze

A heavy day of league play has Sugar Hill seesawing by to the lead. Inexplicably, West Burlington is right behind the leaders.

Heh… my bunch doesn’t need any extra help finding ways to lose though they seem to be clicking ok at the moment.

In PD news… to show what a crapshoot it can be…. Syrups playing in the 10K tourney round robin format… made it out of the robin run…. Came back from a 3 games to 1 deficit to win the first round…. MVP for the round? 52 rated Lars Nootbaar who batted .417 with a couple homers and 5 rbis… lol

Down on the Farm

Of course, being "down on the farm" for West Burlington doesn't mean playing in AAA, just playing like you're a AAA player. Anyway...

The Farmhands are desperately trying to avoid relegation. To that end, they have acquired SE Don Sutton and SE Enos Slaughter to go with all the other usual SE pieces.

But it was non-SE Jerry Benjamin who provided a spark, stealing 6 bases (worth 6k PP) in a Farmhands win. The strategy lever is just above 50% for stealing on the Farmhands, but West Burlington took advantage of the 50 Arm of John Meyers to swipe 11 bases without being caught. Even the lead-footed Bill Skowron (57 Stealing, 19 Speed) took stole 3 times.

Coney Island is up to its normal mediocrity this week. Cards and coffee has been going on during the week as I wont have time tomorrow to go through too many. The highlights were a Tatis Jr. perfect and diamond future legend. With the cards collected many more missions were completed and that got me the usual suspects of diamond cards since I wasn't paying attention to missions (Langston, Wilson et al) all were sold the points are going into the bank for the future. We should have about 30 packs to open in the morning. I did tweak some of the Warriors global strategies to see if it would make any difference, it didn't. I am not in hurry I have an outfield I am after but none of the three have a card yet.

Sugar Hill is actually doing better since I sold off the entire team from the perfect to diamonds and built an all gold team. They are currently 3 games under .500 in bronze, may not be astounding but before the sell off-the team that was supposed to be better got relegated to Iron (I dont know what this says about my ability to build a team). The Gang is doing gold tournys which take longer to fill so fewer chances-they did pull a diamond Jack Coombs but nothing else of note. They are sitting on a lot of points and my current thought is after 8 weeks start slowly turning over the roster again, "retiring" and calling it a career for the current roster.

Diamond 363 end of August

Lemp Ave 15-4 (looking at relegation)
Annandale 6-4 (leading wild card chase)
Nowhere Men 5-18 (.500)

I will away from my computer and won't be able to do last day of games. There are only a few, but the lead could change:

3 games Lemp Ave v. Annandale

3 games Lemp Ave v. Nowhere Men

Gold League:

Cary have the 2nd best run diff in the league, and are the class act in Gold OL this week. However, up to this point, Helthwyzer have taken advantage of the lightest schedule, and are on the brink of claiming the crown!

The Crakes have only 3 games left against Silly, with just 1 more win meaning that Cary have to win 11 out of 13 to overcome them. But, should the Mad Brewers sweep that series, Cary can take it with 8 wins, AND Keystone merely have to win 18 of 20(!) to give themselves a chance.

Bit of trivia.

Knockemstiff's Smoky Joe pitched a perfect game yesterday, which I'm pretty sure is something I failed to achieve in 21. A very nice 10k bonus!

And, down in Rookie, the Stealheadz have over a fifth of the league's total number of steals. If they have a monster final day, they might reach 1200!

Over the past 4 weeks, Paxville have pulled 2 historical perfects in the last 3 days... and only 1 historical diamond which was this morning. Pretty crazy I think! Also, 52 packs this morning without a single non-dupe towards a current mission, c'mon man! However, Ian Kinsler and Mariano Rivera are solid additions to my team, and I'm gonna stick Rico Petrocelli in to replace Pendleton

Commodores Closing in on Crown?

Cleveland is sailing in calm waters, needing only to avoid a serious collapse to claim the OL 165 crown.

Two new recruits will be joining the Waffletown Syrups for the stretch run, hoping to give the team the boost it needs to nab a post season berth.

CF - Mike Cameron (100)

SP - Freddy Garcia (98)

Hooks Dauss will be sent to the reserves to make room for Garcia on the staff. Garcia will join the bullpen in a middle relief/setup role. Lenny Dykstra will be sent to the reserves to make room for Cameron.

Dykstra finishes his Syrups career with 14 seasons patrolling center field. He played in 1820 games, with 2045 hits, 1153 runs scored, 768 stolen bases and a 35.3 WAR

After a two week break for a road trip that saw the Mad Brewers drop out of Diamond and barely hold their own in Gold some active management was needed.

On Wed the wallets were opened and pick up Arky Vaughn, Curt Flood, and some other spare parts. Vaughn pushed Dave Concepcion to the bench while Flood pushed Tim Raines back to a more natural LF. The fact that this meant Enos Slaughter went to the bench is controversial but until a better CF can be found the team preferred to stick with the defensive guy. Finally Louis Santop wandered in demanding a try out. He's not Josh Gibson but the defense is solid and we didn't have any other great bats at catcher so he gets the nod.

So far the results are good. We've even managed to avoid the OL cellar!

Sugar Hill retains the lead, but Bluffton is in the driver's seat for the OL B240 title. While the Gang has finished their OL schedule, the Boomerangs have 8 games remaining, which they could use to capture the flag from Sugar Hill.

Three OL teams are the relegation zone. Two OL teams are in the playoff zone, with South Holland only 1.5 games out.

Hey Rev not sure about Bluffton in the drivers seat

Math in my head says they need to go 7-1 to pass the Gang. I almost hope they do it given they will end up with nearly two times the OL games. Some weeks it doesn’t seem fair.

Have We Decided?

Saturday or Sunday? Either is fine with me. Do we need to do it soon? I don't know how fast they fill up, so just point me in the direction I need to go.
