Bronze

Coming down to the wire in Bronze, with West Burlington in the driver's seat, BUT with a 3-game series at the end with Left Coast. Inland Empire and Gem City still have a shot at overtaking the Farmhands.

Silver

Kaipo and Cedar Rapids each have 2 OL games remaining to decide the title. Cedar Rapids needs to win their two against Boston, then they need some help from Bluffton.

Iron

Didnt feel the need to post a bunch of screenshots for three teams, but here is the recap:

Sugar Hill: 104-58 1st in the NC East. Will likely be promoted. There is a remote chance if all the lower seeds advance that the Gang remain in Iron.

Otsego Lake: 79-83 2nd place in the NC West missed the WC by 2 games. Will remain in Iron.

Las Vegas: 66-96 5th place in the AC East. The Thunder will be headed back to Stone.

Perfectos Glide to Crown in OL G338

Lemp Ave. played .500 ball in September, while the other contenders fell off the pace, and the Perfectos cruised to a 2035 crown. Only Shinbone, 11-4, and Paxville, 9-2, made late runs, improving their respective positions and spoiling others' plans.

In PT play, it was a rough year for OL, with only Lemp Ave playoff bound. Four teams will be headed back to silver, including my Mundys, who went from 95 wins and a division title to 100 losses and the cellar to truly earn their demotion. I guess gold got harder to mine this year.

PT Playoff Check In

I have to finish decorating a cake I made for my daughter-in-law's birthday, so it might be awhile before I check the playoffs. If it turns out well, maybe I'll post a picture. With that in mind, I took a quick survey through the universe screen to see what we've got going. There seems to be a lot of movement, so we'll need to be careful in managing our friends lists, particularly at the lower levels, where we have been slipping quite a bit in recent weeks. Anyway, here are our OT playoff hopefuls:
Rookie - San Francisco in .55, Hartford in .241, Burnside in .302
Stone - Daytona Beach in .168
Iron - Sugar Hill in .183, Terra Incognita and Asylum in .238
Bronze - Inland Empire vs. West Burlington in .205 wild card
Silver - Cedar Rapids, Boston, Kaipo Desert in .289
Gold - Lemp Ave. in .338

Diamond - Nowhere in .361

Good luck to all.

gotta give credit to Shinbone for showing up in the final month.... you'd think when your team is rolling along pretty well and they have 10 games against a team with the worst record in the conference, you could at least play .500 against them

not this dead-from-the-neck-up club in Waffletown... we go 3-7 (including 0-7 down the final stretch and 2-10 overall in the last 12 games) to completely collapse and drop out of the playoffs... on the plus side, we won't embarrass ourselves in the post season

in my more impulsive days, I'd quicksell this entire starting squad and start over

going to go hang out with the Funky Buddha club (112 wins in bronze this year) and see if they can avoid the top-seed curse

Lots of changes in Coney Island. With part of the points they generated from packs and the selling on Ginger Beaumont and George Uhle they brought in Rich Gossage and Aroldis Chapman. Then today to give the team more flexibility (and to be able to sell Ray Boone who is commanding 80K in the AH for a mission I am not planning to complete) The Warriors have brought in Carlos Baerga as utility infielder and Cody Bellinger to split time in RF/1B. When the dust settled we thanked Jay Howell and Jason Isringhausen for their time as Warriors and put them in up for auction.

I had a tough time letting Beaumont go-I grew to have an attachment to him but he could only play CF and not very well. It just left him the DH spot. His last 10 was 82K and I sold felt I had to sell.

I am going to face the same thing with Guidry. The guys on the 70's and Yankees and Mets are for me to stay away from and hard to part with. As a kid who watched his 78 season I think his movement should be much higher vs. both lefty's and righty's. Once I find a replacement he will go to the AH.

Once I get that last piece I will stand pat for a bit. Hoping for some luck in the live updates. Sitting on some 99's and 98's and have many 89's. I got three Edwin Diaz in packs and purchased two more for less than 1250 thinking with the way he is pitching he has to get the +1 or more.

I'm assuming some of the best cards from last night will continue this trend. The content release strategy makes good sense, just makes FTP a tougher strategy as the year progresses.

On the happier side, as an FTP player you aren't spending money on these computer models of historical players, and are instead saving it for (choose answer that best applies):

a. other computer simulations (Jai-Alai, Steeplechase?).
b. rent.
c. merchandise for teams that don't exist anymore.
d. pain meds, for a problem resulting from hunching over your computer too long.

sounds about right.

legit LOLOL at that last part. feeling D lately

I've Forgotten

Were there enough games for a crown in diamond? If so, we're just lacking those standings to complete the OL awards. I'll check back later, but right now it looks like Boulder City will be tough to beat for the Wooden Spoons Trophy, while Kaipo leads for the McCarthy Plaque. Just saw the post from Ian, so disregard this message.

Final Diamond 361 standings:

Nowhere Men 20-13 .606

Texarkana Tornadoes 10-9 .526

Silly Mad Brewers 10-10 .500

Annandale Atom Smashers 13-19 .406

* Went through it twice, but please feel free to check my work if you want. I would be appreciative, not offended.

It was actually a pretty good year for OL Diamond. Tex & SMB left a little short in games, but enough played by a good margin. Nowhere & Smashers played quite a bit.

It felt like an active OL year in Diamond this week (more so than other weeks, for the Nowhere Men anyway).

the logo the Men have decided on (& the one that finally stuck):

Congrats to all the winners, and good luck to the playoff contenders!

I've got my third team OL-ready. They'll be in Rookie, so probably moot this week. They're a bronze smallball team meant to man the lower levels.
