Edmonds could certainly make plays that no one else could.... But it wasn't the daily level of special uniqueness that the other guys I mentioned had, if you know what I mean. With Edmonds it was more like a once-a-week highlight.

Salmon and Anderson were great and I'll always love them, but they don't have characteristics that really separate them from all the great players that all the other teams have, in the same way that the guys I mentioned do.

Ryan... twice in person I saw him take a no-hitter past 7 innings, lost one in the eighth and one in the ninth, in both cases because the Angels scored too many in their prior half inning and he had to sit around in the dugout too long. He was overpowering like few ever.

Abbott... with overcoming his disability, no one else like that in our time. Though not at the same ability level as the other four guys I'm putting forward, deserves mention with them for uniqueness and inspiration.

Vlad... line drives that left the park in seconds. Hits balls that no one else would even TRY to hit, and hits them out.

Now Trout putting up numbers not seen since the days of Willie, Mickey and the Duke, doing it all, and doing it with class. And Shohei doing things not done since Babe Ruth.

Next level of Angels certainly includes Salmon, Edmonds and Anderson. Also through the years, Dean Chance, Albie Pearson, Jim Fregosi, Frank Tanana, Grich, Downing, Joyner, Erstad, Glaus, Percival and Eckstein all made big fan-favorite unique contributions to the franchise history. Probably leaving someone out, but I think I've covered the most important ones.

Oh, yeah, I totally remember him. If I recall correctly, he was one of the first Angel players whose card I got when I first seriously collected baseball cards in 1974. I think I can even still picture that card in my mind, but maybe I'm just being delusional. I remember him as one of those guys that had flashes of potential but never materialized.

Yeah, with us old guys, the memory starts to get fuzzy.

I DO remember having a Ryan rookie card. But ummm.... back in the day, we used to put cards between bicycle spokes to make that cool sound.

Hey Kushiel.... see? My Summer Swoon is starting again. LOL
I'm still in the 2nd WC spot ahead by 6 games over third place, in spite of currently having dropped 9 straight. This after I noticed the next 5 series were against teams that had worse records against right-handed starters, so I moved my lefties into the pen and righties into the rotation. So much for that experiment.

But actually it's been the offense that's my problem. Less than two runs in five of the nine losses. Offense had previously been my team's strength.... Too many teams upgrading their pitching I guess.

As a Expos fan, I understand your love for Vlad. The only game I see in person from him was in 2003 and he was awesome(I can't see all games, I'm living 600 km away of Montreal and I was very young in this time) . He was a better fielder in is time with Montreal with a canon arm...I remember this game very well, he retired a guy at first base from the right field and have a great game offensively with Cabrera too, one home run each. He was a little more athletic in is younger age. He was a pure natural hitter and some speed on base at this time.

Finally out of my losing streak after 9 games. If it was my FTP team, I'd want to lose one more for that additional 150 PP, but at this level that wouldn't even buy a bat boy.

He still had that cannon arm with the Angels. He had this great look after throwing a guy out on the bases, like "Why'd you even think of trying that? Seriously? Really?"

But his knees were shot from playing on the artificial turf in Montreal for so long. Plus he made monumentally bad baserunning decisions.

I really wanted to go see him get inducted into the HOF this year. First player wearing an Angel cap, although Ryan should have been made to wear it. I had always intended to go there for the first Angel, but couldn't make it. Been lucky that most of my fan dreams have come true, so I can't begrudge not getting that one.

For sure, and while playing for Hawaii. If he can do that with those distractions, it's no wonder hopes for him were so high!

Second, their stats are relatively poor because of the high stamina.

Am I missing something here?

I've been using Patrick Corbin as my closer for the past season and a half. He's set for 8th or later and he's been cranking out the 2 inning saves like crazy.

and you have to appreciate a guy who swings at a ball that bounces before it even gets to the plate and *still* gets a hit

My Rockin' Raccoons are starting to pull away from the pack a little bit. Still no regrets spending 4k on Alomar.

I never regret any purchase. I figure as soon as I hit the submit bid button, those pp never really belonged to me. I was just holding them for another person.

I just though 4k was a lot to spend on a Gold.

My IF Depth is pretty incredible now though.

I never saw this before. I was robbed by Judge not making the AS Team! I assume that only the #1 vote getter is automatic, but I've never seen the #2 vote getter not make the team at all. And he does have 2 WAR right now, so he's way better than Stanton. I also would like to know how to get Harper to do that because he stinks in this game every time I've seen him except for this one team/season.
