Ironically, my cousin doesn't.remember him today.
I grew up near Peoria and I remember Earl. He "looked" like he was going to be amazing compared to the kids he was playing with. Wasted first round pick, had all the power, just couldn't make contact.

This game looks amazing by the way. Enjoying the new 3D element!

I don't know about that, but I certainly love watching his pawn hit into my hard shift right!

First version that I've bought since 14 and honestly haven't played with it in a while.

The look and feel of 17 is awesome.

Started up a current MLB game with the Braves, and two things I had forgotten:

1. Reminded me that the Braves are gonna be pretty horrible this year.
2. Forgot how many options and how much control you can actually have with your team. I've played for a couple hours and haven't even started the season yet. Still messing with rosters, strategies, team settings, etc. HaHa.

But looks to be best version yet. Great job OOTP team!!!

First off, the game has many improvements. From the twelve games I've played so far, the game works well... No issues, and the improvements are pretty cool. I like the fact that I don't have to fuss with logos and uniforms. Even the historical logos are spot on.

I don't have any complaints... But an observation...

In a historical exhibition, there is no way to print the stats. It used to be you could open it in an external browser, then print it... Not anymore?

Anyway, you guys did a great job. It's the weekend, I've got an epic series to play.... The 33 Senators are playing Mack's 31 A's

I got help from my disappointing first impressions. I wasn't real smart with settings etc.

Problems solved...

...THIS GAME IS SIMPLY FANTASTIC !!

SPLENDID...DEEP...DETAILED...AND SUCH A GREAT FEEL FOR
BASEBALL FROM BACK IN THE RADIO DAYS !!

(Especially with my 32" screen and pitch by pitch audio announcer from Win 10 !!)

I saw someone complain about the Change Pitcher button on the mound visit pop-up.

I can't imagine why. It takes away nothing and is a handy short-cut.

More than that, I would really like to give a thumbs-up to the new variety on the mound visit text!

I haven't seen enough to know if there are more variances in the meaning of the responses, just that there are different texts... but I like it!

Wow!

By far the best version yet. 3d field in wide mode is amazing.(One little suggesstion-make wide mode the default 3D mode). So many little things that make you say WOW.

Bugs:

I can't import any saved games from OOTP 16.

I can't import any photo files. All I get are fictional pics.

None of the ratings change. For instance, (and this is only ONE example), Josh Bell is rated 21/34. His hitting on his profile page says 45/50 (45 current and 50 potential). I made his BABIP potential 200 just to see if anything changed. Nothing did. It stayed at 45/50.

It is the same with fielding ratings. I made Elias Diaz a 191 arm. He stayed at a '60' catcher.

I gave Tyler Glasnow the potential of a 200 FB and 200 curve. Nothing changed.

I even tried the "Base ratings on stats for potential and current ratings" feature. The numbers changed in the Edit page, but not on the Profile page. Tyler remained a 20/63 even though I made him a Sandy Koufax in waiting.

I am going to quit playing until the "clean" version comes out. I see now that the pre-order guaranteed a "Gold Master Beta", but I didn't think it'd be THIS buggy.

So much for the pre-release, but at least I saved $5.

Are you playing with scouts on? If so, did you re-scout those players?

Love the new version and don't have enough time to list all of the great features!! So just a couple of minor things that may or may not be something to consider adjusting or maybe they can be adjusted and I just don't know it.

I have been playing historical season and obviously my test sample is limited...

Injuries:
~Seem to be running high for me. I set it to Low (one level below default) and was still getting 5-6 injuries every day (league wide) which seems high to me. Maybe that is normal but just seemed extreme.

Injury Rating:
99% players of the players are importing with injury/durability ratings of 40-40-40-40-40. Is there a way to randomize this or mix it up a little bit without the user having to alter it themselves?

Bunting:
~Nobody can bunt, again I know this is tough to base bunting skills on raw stats but again maybe can be randomized or based off of something so it is mixed up a little bit.

Defensive Ratings:
~I have only been playing a 80s historical season but almost every player is a defensive god. Seems like the defense would be a little easier to base on actual stats and everyone wouldn't import maxed out.

Missed Seasons:
~Players who missed the season due to injury (of the year you start your season) are importing with horrible ratings. This is an issue if they are someone who then bounced back the next season and went on to have a great career. For example if you start in 1986 and a player had no stats for 1986 but then had great stats for 1987 & beyond couldn't the game just set their ratings based off of 1987 & beyond and give them a season long injury instead of them just being in FA with horrible ratings?

Uniform Numbers:
~Still no way to edit these without going into Commish mode, would love to see the feature brought back that allowed you to change a number from the drop down window and the drop down window only gave you the option to pick an available number!

Love the game, just a few minor things I have noticed and they might be more personal preference stuff that others don't care about. Either way great game!

I just wanted to take a second to rave about the newly animated 3D mode. The more play it the more I fall in love with you. You guys really did a great job. It has sync issues and occasional animation issues that you guys are well aware of, but to me as a guy that plays almost all of my team's games out, it makes a huge difference in the enjoyment of the grind of a season. I play with the camera set to Wide, which I think you guys should consider making the default view, or at least give us the option to set it as default. Watching the plays unfold and watching home runs fly from that vantage point has made a huge difference to me. It makes me feel more connected to the game. I can't wait to see how you guys progress this feature in the future.

I second this. I think I will actually play more games out because it adds so much to the experience.

The game will alter them for you as you play longer. No need for human intervention

This is a bug that's been fixed (or is being fixed, forget just which).

I'd suggest not playing with one-year recalc if you can avoid it, then things should look better, I'd hope.

@Cowboys3356: re: Missed Seasons: Are you using minor leaguers? I ask because if you aren't, you can use neutralized stats and that will fill in those gaps. However, if you are using minor leaguers, neutralized stats unfortunately cannot be used as the minor leaguers will import with horrible ratings (as there are no neutralized stats for minor leaguers and it would make for a ridiculously difficult undertaking for Spritze, Bigrod, and Markus who worked on the minor leaguers odyssey). Also recalc can help with this if you use 3 year or 5 year recalc. It can help to smooth out those 1 year bumps. I don't know how it would help with the war years though when players missed multiple seasons due to service time of a very different kind than being a baseball player.

The crazy good defensive ratings is a known bug that is hopefully being worked on. As for the rest, I'm not sure, but I did want to convey those potential workarounds for missed seasons to you.

EDIT: I see lukasberger beat me to it and was more concise. Oh well. Keep the Neutralized Stats thing in mind if you're not using historical minor leaguers, but DO NOT use them if you are.

That's amore. That's not a bug by the way (well, the overall performance might be...!) but Cervelli really did have two separate 2 RBI singles in the 6th inning... Also worth noting: 22 runs and not a single ball left the park.

All-Time League guys don't retire right away but if you add like 2015 Royals to a 1998 League Omar Infante Retired after 98 season so theirs no way at the moment to stop that from but wait intill you get to like Closer to 2015 to load that Team so Infante will Retire way down the line. If you try and create an from active/past guys All-Time Team like Marlins or so on might run into same problem.

Among all the major improvements I'm really enjoying have the date back at the top of the screen when playing out games.

The only thing so far i'm not crazy about is the new location of the Play Button. It just seems oddly placed. I miss have it in the corner.

There's supposed to be a 64-bit version later in the development cycle for OOTP17 according to Markus. Impossible to track down the thread he confirmed this in right now though...They're movin' through really quickly as you can see.
