Danny Salazar pitched a nice game against the Angels, but Tommy Hanson was JUST better. The Jays fell 2-1.

WP - Tommy Hanson (11-6)
Save - Ernesto Frieri (10)
LP - Danny Salazar (5-4)

Record - 47-45

Toronto is now 2 games behind Tampa Bay for the Wild Card and 2.5 behind Boston for the AL east... and trending the wrong way.

The Jays just can't match the Angels right now.

4-2 L.A.

They are quickly falling out of the immediate race. There is still time left.

WP - Garrett Richards (10-4)
Save - Antonio Bastardo (20)
LP - Colby Lewis (8-7)

Record - 47-46

Wow.

The Yankees reached out with a trade offer today that involved sending the Blue Jays Robinson Cano and the Yankees getting Jose Bautista.

We are negotiating.

Tough decision...

Current offer is Bautista, Kyle Drabek and Jarrett Hoffpauir going to NY for Robinson Cano, David Phelps and Austin Romine.

Bautista is leading the league in homers with 27 (in mid-July). Cano is the first year of an 8-year contract, while Jose has two more years on his.

Phelps is a straight up upgrade over Drabek.

Hoffpauir is AAA filler at this point, while Romine would LIKELY take over as starting catcher over Jaso (as Jesus Montero is still on the DL).

The question is, would the END of Cano's contract make this a bad deal... or a good deal. He would be 38 when all is said and done.

Lord hates a coward!!! LOL, that is tough. Financially it could hamstring the Jays for years, but you are getting a better pitcher. Is the trade off for Bautista worth Cano?

Well, I decided to go for it, but the back-and-forth now needs a sign-off by Hank Steinbrenner.

Wait and see time.

Zach Stewart did everything right and deserved the win but for the third time this season, Rex Brothers blew the save and the Angels won 4-3.

The question is, will that be the last appearance by Jose Bautista as a Blue Jay?

WP - Ernesto Frieri (3-5)
LP - Rex Brothers (0-3)

Record - 47-47

A big day for two new Jays! Robinson Cano got a home run it his first at-bat for Toronto and David Phelps pitched into the 9th, notching the 3-2 win over the Astros!

WP - David Phelps (7-6)
Save - Rex Brothers (27)
LP - Lucas Harrell (6-9)

Record - 48-47

Meanwhile Jose Bautista got an RBI triple for New York in their win over Boston, so everyone is happy.

The new-look Jays picked up another win over the Astros, 7-3. Jose Reyes was top dog, going 4 for 5 with an RBI triple. Robinson Cano went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI.

Of note, in the wrong way, was John Jaso, who went 0 for 5, leaving TEN men on base.

WP - Hyun-Jin Ryu (3-8)
Save - Carter Capps (1)
LP - Brad Peacock (6-9)

Record - 49-47

In an incredibly tight AL East, the Jays are out by 1.5 games and in last place.

They are 1 game out of the Wild Card.

How often does a team get their 3-4-5 hitters all sent to the All-Star Game?

Now think, how often does it happen to a team in last in their division?

The Blue Jays have announced that they have extended Pablo Sandoval for four years at an average value of $11m/year.

Good news and the fans are happy.

TRADE

To DIAMONDBACKS

Pedro Alvarez

To BLUE JAYS

Alfredo Marte
Luke Persico

With the acquisition of Sandoval, Alvarez felt redundant and both pick-ups are legitimate prospects.

TRADE

To RANGERS

Ryan Goins
Zeke DeVoss

To BLUE JAYS

Zoilo Almonte
Jordan Dunatov

It is Dunatov that is the prize here. Legit prospect (though Almonte isn't bad either)
