Just got the MLB quickstart game loaded up and I'm absolutely blown away by the facegens! The new interface looks like it will take some getting used to but I usually take a few days to tinker with things anyway before I actually get into playing the game so I'm sure it won't matter much by the time I start playing. Just maneuvering around the various screens and loading up league reports I can tell speed is better. Everything so far is very impressive!

Oh my goodness!

After a few clicks (downloaded and installed the history and all-in-one addons, then loaded a quick-start game) and a little bit of patience.....and I have my favorite professional team with facegen pictures! This is definitely the best OOTP ever! This is what I had always hoped for, but was never quite able to get. Now everything is fine unless my favorite team doesn't win the 2010 World Series

So far it looks amazing. I'm still just playing around with the screens, getting ready to start a new league.

bumping this question, does anyone else have an issue with the mouse zipping across screen when game is loaded?

I had a minor issue and opened up a support ticket as a low priority, and was really impressed with the quick response that I got.

I guess quick is the theme of the day, after playing around for a couple of hours the difference in speed is very noticeable. I didn't think things were slow before, but I see a big improvement.

The all in one add-on was a great touch. It made things so much easier to get up and running with a 2010 league. The new interface seems very intuitive, and things like mass select, notes, and the player comparison screen are great additions. Although I've spent too much time comparing players instead of actually playing games.

The one thing I'm a little bit leery of is the next text on the manager's home page. While there is some useful info, I wonder if this is going to get old quick.

Overall I'm impressed so far though, and anxious to dig a little deeper.

I think the revised interface for the game setup is a nice improvement. Much easier to have awareness of where I am in the setup process, and go to where I want to be.

I just love the manager notes. In the past, I usually resorted to making notes in notepad or making a spreadsheet or something to keep track of where I was in my leagues, or relying on my faulty memory. Now I can incorporate that info in game...and get reminders at the appropriate time. Great addition!

I have to extend my additional comment on the interface. The RTR, while complete and very thorough, can't duplicate the experience. Even after I'd worked with it - for a very long time, mind you - I didn't fully appreciate the extent of its impression on me until I returned to X to make changes in an existing league. Wow. I found myself stumbling around and realizing the huge difference 11 made and how foreign and awkward 10 came off, in comparison. Not that I ever complained about 10, but now I just couldn't go back. More good things in good places; just feels "right," somehow.

Going to enjoy the heck out of Manager's Notes myself. May finally be able to do away with all my disorganized, scattered, and occasionally dated notes in Word. I agree, it's going to be a great experience.

I just noticed that the Lahman ID was in the player editor. Not sure if it was in prior versions, but I like it. This is very nice. No more looking at website urls to get the info.

Playing out my first game. Noticed the option for "short" play-by-play. I've been wanting this for a long time. Now I can play the game out quickly without scrolling through text every play. Another subtle but nice new feature.

And I can still get the full play-by-play for those exciting parts of the game or when I'm watching a playoff game.

Yeah, this a great feature and one I've requested since first using something similar in FM 2006. In previous versions I always had an OOTP wordpad file on my desktop. Always opened it first and kept it in the task bar, for easy access, before opening OOTP. So much easier when its in game and having the ability to set up reminders is a huge upgrade over using wordpad.

Import fun and odd license key experience

When pasting in my license key <ctl> v didn't work. Fortunately there was a context menu on the text field with a paste option that did work.

I'd been playing a v9 league and went through the import process. I didn't mind downloading a demo version of v10 to create a world.dat that would work with v11. I think the documentation could be improved on the details of importing a league (game.) It wasn't obvious to me that the world.dat file gets created by doing a backup. I figured it out by trial and error, or as we like to call it here, the empirical method. The other thing that gave me a bit of trouble was the world.dat file not being in the directory that the import wizard defaults to. I would have preferred to see a tree representation of the directory structure in the wizard but that's maybe because I've been looking at directories that way since I got X-Tree in 1990 or so.

Good news: Once I figured out (stumbled on) the mechanics of the import process it worked fine. It took me about 15 minutes to get it set up after downloading the demo of v10. My 1921 St. Louis Browns have picked up where they left off in v9 with all their data intact.

The Player Development Report may be the best new addition I've seen to OOTP since, well, I can't think of anything. And I've been wanting Manager Notes forever. Love it.

Starting to get a little concerned. I played my first season. I didn't make it to the playoffs but I did make the team pretty good at every position and I was ranked 1 out of 100 at the end of the season.

Highly drafted rookies demand a ton of money.

I recently drafted an outfielder with the third overall pick and he wanted an $8.5m bonus plus a three year contract worth $9m per year. In total dollars that is 2.5x what Stephen Strasburg recently received, which set a record. He broke off negotiations with me after I met his bonus demand and offered a three year, $5m p/y contract. That is around 50% more than the record setting Strasburg deal. His signablility for my team was listed as normal.

What are you concerned about? Just the "season score"?

What type of league is this? Remember, this could vary widely depending on the way your league is set up.

An MLB game starting in 2010 with real players. I haven't touched the financial settings for player salaries or the "expected slot bonus baseline."

I don't think this is working as intended, and I've logged a bug report about it, so hopefully it will be adjusted soon.

~200 gigs free. Dell Inspiron laptop. Kensington Bluetooth USB Micro Adapter K33902US. Sony DR-BT50 headphones. Toshiba Bluetooth stack. OOTP refused to install until I charged the headphones and synced them up.

Folder wasn't an issue. The installation reported sounded sound issues and then stopped cold. Once I charged up and synced up the headphones the game installed fine.
