Found it funny that the Tribune ran an article this morning on how good Aardsma is and that he found his niche in Chicago. They jinxed him

Thome started last night, and then was lifted after one swing of the bat.

Yep, pretty sad performance today.
Not sure what happened to "Ozzieball", now's the time we have to see it with the offense slumping. Twice we had baserunners on to lead an inning, once it was even Erstad. No bunts, steals, or even an attempt to move the runner over. Furthermore, Ozzie's use of the pen has been questionable at best. Friday nights game, its late innings and we are trying to hold a lead and he's bringing in Mccarthy and Sisco. Today, he brings in our best setup guy, Aardsma in the 7th. Top it off with brining Jenks in with nothing to gain, and he gives up 2 runs. Not good for his confidence. I just dont understand Ozzie. My choice would be to use Aardsma for the 8th with a lead, Jenks to close with a lead. That's it. Use the other guys for whatever. Anyhow, we'll see how it plays out. Off for a pretty tough road trip. 3 in Seattle, 3 in LA, and 2 (?) in Minnesota. Oh yeah, and what's up with his lineups?? I am absolutely sick and freakin tired of him falling in love with L-R-L-R in the damn lineup. AJ batting cleanup??? WTF. Last edited by MogulChamp; 04-29-2007 at 08:53 PM. |

Meh. I see him as Joe Borchard Part II, but that may be because he was also a Division I quarterback and was drafted for his "athleticism" rather than for his "being a really, really good baseball player". The Sox draft strategies have been pretty good at churning out nothing of late.
Speaking of churning out nothing, the Sox optioned Brian Anderson back down to Charlotte. They also outrighted Casey Rogowski to Charlotte the other day, which is a fancy way of saying they took him off the 40-man roster. [sarcasm]I bet it's all just a precusor to the inevitable return of Aaron Rowand![/sarcasm] Really, the Sox played "Ozzieball" for one year with any consistency, and even then they were very reliant on the longball. It's just that the pitching was out of it's collective mind and could survive only getting 2 or 3 runs more often. |

Didn't notice this article last night, but apparently the Sox are expected to call up Luis Terrero today to replace Brian Anderson:
http://chicagosports.chicagotribune....home-headlines Ultimately, it's probably the best thing to do for the reserve outfield situation. BA's not going to get any better if he never gets to swing the bat, which he will get to do every day in Charlotte. Terrero is a guy who probably isn't ever going to be starting caliber, so having him ride the pines and come in late in the game as a defensive sub makes perfect sense. Apparently, the Sox feel the same way: Quote:

Basically, yeah.
Ozzieball basically means, "play without your heads in your ***es for a year and see what happens." |

And what does Terrero do in his first at-bat? Takes a 1-1 pitch down the line for a solo homer.

Great job by Vasquez tonight. Unfortunately we only score 2 runs on 4 hits.
What the heck is wrong with the offense?? Our pitching has been phenomenal, we just cant get any run support. It's getting a bit frustrating. |

Seems like everything is either a weak groundball or hit right at someone. Eventually the offense has to turn around....I hope.

No kidding - in 2005 (and a good chuck of 2006) it seemed like there was always somebody in the lineup who was hitting the ball well or getting the hit when it mattered.
This year...not so much. |
