Offseason similar to real MLB

It would be cool to try and duplicate the MLB offseason. Have dates for arbitration, gm meetings, free agent signings, rule 5 draft, etc... Kind of use the approach on Madden with something like:

week 1 is teams can only negotiate with their f/a agents, week 2 is offer arbitration to f/a eligible,
week 3 is gm meetings (f/a and trades),
week 4 is rule 5 draft,
week 5 is non-tender/abitration hearings,
week 6 2nd f/a period, etc...

Maybe even add the draft picks to f/a offer abritration but signed with another team (sandwich pick between rounds 1 and 2).

Just an idea.

Someone else posted something similar not long ago. I'd definitely be 100% for a more realistic postseason. OOTP has actually come a long way from how it started in that regard, but there's still a long way to go.

I concur. Would make it a lot better and give it more of a realistic feel.

for a more realistic Offseason not postseason
You for got some key dates
If you don't resign one your your pitchers or players who was non tenderd by January 8 you can't resign them intill May
Players and Pitchers report to Camp
String Training games start
If you go cbsssportline.com they keep up to date with the Key Dates for the MLB!
Also it should tell you that 15 days after the World Series ends you can start making trades again and signing players and pitchers who declared to become a free-agent
No skipping days or moths in the offseason sim like we can in NHL Eastside Hockey Manager from sigames who's making this game because that game dosen't skip a day or month because you can sim from January 1 to December 31

Along the lines of Winter Meetings....

I think it would be great if each GM had a different personality, or even intelligence level. Trading with certain teams would be harder, depending on the GM's tendencies, intelligence, and/or personalities.

And maybe you could build a "history" with certain GMs - you're more likely to make better trades with guys you've traded with in the past, because you know each other better.

Not sure how hard this would be to implement, but I'd really like to see it.

I like this idea. I could see it functioning much like fan support level. Way down the road, there could be a multitude of factors that could affect those relationships - past trades gone bad, trades declined, etc...

Like someone else said though, the only caution with these implementations is that they remain optional and they don't become fixed or stagnant so that they always influence every owner's game the same way. That way each individual solo universe maintains its uniqueness.

I've brought up similar ideas before. Also, different GMs would be better at different things and have different philosophies. One might be a "win it all right now" type, while another likes to let prospects develop and promote from within. One might believe in basing a team around a great starting rotation. Another might go for homeruns or defense.

This would help teams to build individual characteristics over time. Of course, the GM's strengths and tendencies would ideally play off an owner's tendencies. A GM who wants to win it all now is going to have his efforts frustrated by an owner who likes to horde cash rather than spend for wins.
