Question Historical Expansion Roadblock

I have been simming a historic league since 1946. Now I am in 1961 and I've hit a wall. How the heck do you do a HISTORIC expansion draft in this game? I want to expand the AL with the Angels and the Senators (version 2) but so far I have been unable to fill their rosters with their historic players. I've tried to do the CSV roster export, edit the file with WordPad, and import back into the game. My rosters are all blank. I've tried releasing some players but I can't find some of them afterwards and I'm not sure how to assign them to the new teams anyway outside of a draft. I am playing with financials off so all I have is the Rule 5 draft anyway. I gave up and just imported a whole new set of players from 1961, but that screws up my Catobase at the end of the season...no continuity with past seasons in the database. I've pretty much been able to figure out everything about OOTP but this truly has me stumped. I searched the forums and all I find are discussions pertaining to NON-historical expansion. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

I believe your rosters are all blank because the players are all in the Minor Leagues. (re CSV export)

Wow. You are correct! They are all either at AAA or DFA. Why did this happen like this? At least now the players are properly assigned to the teams, but what mess to clean-up. I guess I'll just let the PC do the job.

Apparently, doing a Roster CSV Export / Import drops everybody in the league in AAA or DFA... disconcerting, eh?

Thumbs up

Well, yeah, it's "disconcerting". I spent a good part of today trying to figure out where my players went. Of course, the answer (while illogical) turns out to be much simplier than I had considered. I should have consulted the boards earlier. Would have saved me a couple of hours of frustation. At least everything is now salvaged, I can delete the 1961 data from Catobase (a nice feature) and hit the ground running.

Needless to say, I'll be ready for the 1962 expansion coming up.

I'm not sure why this happened this way. Nor am I certain I would understand it if someone explained it to me.

Since this IS a sim-based game designed for (among other things) historic simulation across mulitpe seasons, you would think an expansion draft feature would be part of it. But, editing exported CSV rosters DOES work. So, I can't complain really about anything other than my own inexperience with the game.

Thanks again for the constructive input!

There's a lot of things that OOTPDev doesn't do or doesn't have that I think they should.
