Steve, you have to admit that for whatever reasons Markus' support of OOTP6 has lagged far behind what he used to do (OOTP1 - OOTP4).

I was just about to go the board and post about the crashing. I guess this saves me the trouble. I'm likely going to pay the $20 for nothing else that to support shaun. I like both OOTP and puresim. They offer vastly different playing experiences.

I've said it before and I'll say it again-they are both worth having on your computer...

Interesting in that Shaun was hinting at perhaps being able to import OOTP leagues into Puresim and "A OOTP developer" (Markus, apparently) told him not to continue along those lines. I find that curious especially with the concern over perhaps not being able to import 6 leagues into ver 7. Has Puresim caused a chill in the OOTP household? Is it because of that persnickity Multiplayer being tested in beta?

Shaun, to his immense credit, locked the thread before any negativity against OOTP6 surfaced. Still, I think readers of this forum need to know about this stance of OOTP dev.

Ummm no, it has more to do with reverse engineering your compitition's data files.

I believe that OOTP has been more than accommodating when it has been to mentioning other games and sites. But Shaun and PureSim (since he broke off from .400 SS) has really been having his game hyped at OOTP. When it was not before.

And to attempt to intergrate OOTP products with his .... that may cross a line.

Whatever... I always saw it as Coke and Pepsi... little guy versus littler guy. IM likely to buy both, at least after 7 has been played a while.

Exactly. I like Shaun as a person and game designer, however this idea of his just didn't taste too well. So I asked him to reconsider, and he has

Too bad Markus told him to reconsider. We could have had a big war when OOTP allowed PureSim files. Too bad Good for them, bad for us.

Am I the only one that thinks the PureSim interface needs a lot of work? It's the reason I quit using it in 2002. I tried it out again because of the shareware version... it doesn't look a lot different. It sure is a lot faster (however, I am using a faster computer now), but the interface is still a huge hurdle for me.

I especially dislike that you cannot access your full team management tools in certain times of the offseason. Perhaps someone can show me a way to do this, but the fact that I cannot figure out how to do it... is a major problem.

Other issues I had when running is that the games HIGHLY overvalues relief pitchers...

Just wondering if anyone else has these same isssues.

Actually I agree with you. I've never tried PureSim before, but thought I'd give it a go as it was shareware. Perhaps I'm just used to OOTP, but I found doing stuff, like promoting/demoting players from the minors to be overly cumbersome and didn't care too much for the pbp mode. I don't recall having those problems when I first tried OOTP, which I bought within a few hours of first trying the demo. I get the feeling that there's a good game in there somewhere, but the interface needs to be more intuitive, particularly with the lack of a manual.

I've tried to use the demo but can't get through one season yet. I started with a 1901 historical league each time, once with me owning the team, once where all I wanted it to do was fast sim the years. In the fast sim, it locked up after season one and all attempts to continue have failed. In the one where I controlled a team, had even more problems. I forgot to make contract offers and lost some players. At the beginning of the 2nd season, it goes straight to my team page for roster moves. I can't exit the screen because it tells me I only have 48 players and need to have 50. But it won't let me sign anyone or go so another failed season down the drain.

After that I stopped trying.

Iatric, if I understand it correctly, you can only use historical players in the one season replay mode, unlike OOTP, if you want to play in career mode you have to use fictional pllayers.
