Unhappy Constant Crashes - Level 3-4 SCI

Can anyone help? I have spent weeks inputting players information, stats, etc., from a FPS League that has been simming since 2000 (error free). I'm trying to duplicate the league exactly in order to compare the OOTP6 results with FPS 98.

Before anyone says, "Who cares?" ... let me add ... I am a quadriplegic (In case you were puzzled re: Title, it refers to my Level of injury - 3rd and 4th vertabrae and SCI - Spinal Cord Injury and use a 'mouthstick' to type. An onerous task to day the least. However, all my efforts would be worthwhile if the game didn't crash all the time!

I have tried simming both Exhibition and League games, but both crash prior to completion. The only warning I receive is the standard Microsoft error message, "OOTP6 terminated unexpectedly...report to MS...Y/N "

I am running OOTP6 ver. 6.11 (not the patch).

OS - Windows XP Pro SR2
Toshiba Satellite Pro 8000 Notebook
256 mg RAM
PIII 800
90 Gig HD
GeForce Video - 64 mg RAM

This is the 2nd version of OOTP that I have purchased. My financial resources are limited, yet I still chose to spend my money on the game. To my dismay, I must admit my enjoyment level thus far is ZERO!! I feel 'ripped off' somehow ... when all I want to do is just play and enjoy the game.

I hope the information provided is sufficient. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks from a very frustrated Consumer...

Well Boys,

I have tried everything that was suggested by those (not ALL) of you who gave me relevent suggestions. Unfortunately, no luck.

Also, as Markus suggested, I submitted my League .dat files to him and apparently he was able to sim without a hitch. So he suggested updating DirectX and video drivers (did it), turn off sound (did it), turn of 3D (did it), set to OOTP Browser (did it) ... damn near cried when the game died immediately upon clicking 'sim' !

I almost felt a glimmer of hope there...

Any other suggestion are welcome.

Sincerely,

Some are having issues, most are not. Here are some things you can try to see if it solves the problem:

-Make sure that your browser is updated with the most up to date version.
-Go into "game setup" and change the browser that the game uses to open the box scores.
-If you have in-game sounds enabled, turn them off.

See if any of those help. FYI, my system setup sounds failry close to yours except I have not updated to SP-2 and I have had no issues. Hope this helps.

Tried & Died

Hi Steve,

Thanks for replying. I tried all your suggestions and several other options: reinstall, clean registry, changed drives, etc, and still no luck -- with my own Custom League! I emphasize this because I decided to try simming in the 2004 Career League that installs with the game and it worked

Shall presume by this that something is wrong with my League?

It is a 1 League, 14 team configuration with a DH. All players were 'created' by me within the game.

Any suggestions given this new information?

Thanks,

I don't know of any reason why your league wouldn't work, maybe try setting it up as a 2 league setup and drop the teams to 12 or up to 16(has to be an even number of teams in each league) and see if that works. If that can't be done or doesn't help email the league to markus@ootpdevelopments.com and ask him to take a look at it.

Still Snookered ...

I tried the combinations you suggested and the results were the same. I'll forward my League and cross all my appendages.

Thanks for your assistance!

Can you please zip the league files (the *.dat files) and send them to markus@ootpdevelopments.com? I'll try to fix your league!

Cheers,
Markus

did you modify the league totals, such as BABIP?

When I changed BABIP, my custom league locked up every single time. When I left BABIP alone, I could play. This didn't happen to the default league; it ran fine.
