news reporting inaccuracies

Anybody else been getting some inaccurate headline news articles in the League News section?

It doesn't happen to me for every news entry, but it happens to a player named John Ackles every time.

John Ackles was just named for his second player of the week award this season. The news article (and in the news log also) states that Ackles won the Eastern Conference P.O.W. for Chicago.
His first player of the week award, according to the news and its log says that he won the EC POW while playing for Pittsburgh.
Only a small thing, but John Ackles has spent his entire career in the Western Conference and has been playing for Seattle for the last 3 years. lol

It seems that every time he (and, so far as I've noticed, only he) wins a pow or, also he won a player of the month while [not]playing for Chicago this year, the news reporting reports him to be from the same team and conferrrence as the winner of the same award in the Eastern Conferrrence for that same news day.

There have been a couple of other minor glitches in the news as well...once, a players' story was reported accurately for his winning p.o.w. (correct team and conferrrence)...but, the player's name was omitted.

I haven't really kept track of the other glitches in the news that I've seen since:
a) eh..so its not perfect? i'm ok with it..i've known what the news stories meant..really just a 'cosmetic' issue
b) its probably already a known issue since it is such a visible feature of the game

But, I finally decided to go ahead and post about it because:
1) just in case--by some bizarre chance--it has escaped attention so far
and
2) just in case it is only that my files are somehow messed up and I should work on making the necessary adjustments to avoid running into further complications in the future.

So, how bout it? Others experiencing these issues with the news as well?

It's a "known issue", and apparently quite difficult to nail down. Here's a thread I started on it three months ago, and I believe it's been around since OOTP5, if not even earlier.

ill just add that this bug is the only one that really really really bothers me. sure its not that important to the gameplay and doesnt make the game crash or anything, but for some reason it gets under my skin. GUH!

carry on

hehehe...I can understand the getting under the skin thing...

and, thank you jmm for filling me in on that...

oddly, though, the reason that I notice it so much in ootp 6 is that I was so impressed by the accuracy of the reporting in ootp 5. lol Maybe I was just coincidentally lucky with the bugs in 5.
