Multiple users, same computer
I have a registed, licensed copy of the game on my home PC. We use separate user logins for each family member. When my son tries to start the game from his login it comes up as an unlicensed copy and we get a run time error.
Is there a way around this? |

That's weird... I tried starting the game logged in as my wife and the game started just fine, even though it did not show the order ID or the game as being registered.
I'm assuming you son is not set up as an administrator. I'm not very proficient with XP, but is there a way to "copy" the e-License folder to his control panel? Or, allow access to the folder (I'm assuming the game was installed and licensed under your login name)?

It was installed an licensed under my ID.
I had to reinstall and add the license after having my hard drive cleared and the op system reinstalled. He was not set up on the pc when I redid everything. I just added him as a user last night. I wonder if things are confused with the licenses since I had different folders with different version of the game - 6.03, 6.10, 6.11 Had to do this because of different online leagues running different versions. Now all are on 6.11 Would it be better to do a new install of the game, 6.11? Can I just enter my license info at the screen where it asks for payment? Since he's set up now maybe there would be no access issue. |

I tried downloading and reinstalling the game. Comes up ok for me with the license. When I login as my son it shows no license and the game fails if I try to open a league.

This is for Windows XP, right? If your son's login is administrator-level, you could try doing a separate install under his account and using your second license on his copy.
If he doesn't have administrator privledges, I think you'll have a hard time making it work. I can't even get a stupid little game like Need For Speed 3 to run out of a different administrator account than the one I installed it with, unless I "Run As" the original account.

It is XP and I don't believe he's set-up as an admin.
I didn't have this problem before I reinstalled everything. |

Alright, I did a quick test. I created a limited account. Logged in, OOTP6 crashed when loading league. This is because a limited account user does not have read/write access to all files.
I then logged back in as myself (an administrator) and moved the entire OOTP6 folder to the Shared Documents folder (if you open my computer, it's in the Other Places menu). After the move was completed, I logged back in to my limited account user. Was able to run OOTP6 without problem. Simmed a couple days, everything worked great. So, tward13 you have two options. Go to your control panel --> Users and make your son's account an administrator, or go to My Computer, browse to your ootp6 directory and move the OOTP6 folder to the Shared Documents folder. You will need to reset your shortcuts after the move (on your desktop and in the start menu). If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what to tell you. I just know that it worked for me.
