Showalter was a GREAT choice! I was so jazzed when he won. It's like I keep telling my boys "A good pitcher next year will put us over the edge!". Remember, you heard it here first.

A Good pitcher will indeed made Texas alot better, a good pitcher will make any team better i suppose. Which pitchers do you realistically think could be signed? Lowe? Perez? Maybe Texas should make a HUGE offer to pedro...

I'd love to see Pedro signed. Lowe could help too, but I like Pavano better. I think trading Soriano would free up a lot of money to go after one of those three. And perhaps a couple other guys too.

Heard it here first? Perhaps you don't live in Dallas, because that's been the motto here since the late 90s...

I would think most managers would find the best defensive catcher in the game pretty useful.

Right, but nobody's suggesting that Alan Trammell get rid of Ivan Rodriguez. I'm not sure what a discussion of the best defensive catcher in baseball has to do with Tony LaRussa, though.

Rangers' batting is 4th in AL in one of the best hitter's park, while their pitching is 5th in AL.

After adjusting for park, hitting is the part that needed help. Trading away a younger and more reliable Soriano for pitchers is a bad idea.

If we are going by defensive ability (blocking balls + fielding), pitch calling, and handling pitchers, I'll take Matheny.

Seattle let go of the same player and the next year went on to Win 116 games....says a lot about A-rod.

It's probably not Rodriguez. He had an off year with the Yankees, but the Yankees still managed to win the same number of games.

It's more likely the power of Ichiro!!!

Both great choices for managers of the year.

For those who knock Cox on the "but the Braves lost in the first round of the playoffs": That doesn't fly this year. If they hadn't made the playoffs at all but finished second in their division and two games out of the wildcard race, Cox would still have been a candidate. This is a team that was supposed to be around .500 according to some of the more generous preseason projections.

Aren't the ballots casted before playoffs anyway?

Actually, your wrong. Not that its a surprise. The ballots have to be in before the playoffs starts. The folks on FSN talked about it, and since a ballot member who votes on the award is on the show from time to time, and said himself they have to be in before, i'd go with him....

Yeah, ballots of all awards are casted at the end of the regular season before playoffs.
