Free Agent Lies?
I was pursuing a free agent in last night's off-season.
For two days my offer of $4.5M/3 years was the best one he had. But then someone else offered more money, he said. I upped my offer to $5.5M/3 years. Not enough money, he said. I upped my offer to $6M/3 years. Not enough years, he said. I upped it to $6M/4 years. Not enough years, he said. At that point, I decided this free agent was not good enough to offer 5 years at that salary to. So I gave up. Two days later he signed. I checked the signing log. $4.2M/3 years? Anyone else have a free agent "lie" to them like this? Can anyone explain why this would happen? I'm OK with it, in general. I don't mind that kind of "fog of war". That assumes, however, it is deliberately intended by the programmer. |

I wonder if he had an offer revoked on him. That would explain why he was telling you to bid higher and then took a lower offer.

Are you using the latest patch? This was supposed to be a fixed issue, I believe.

6.11 Patch.
And the team he signed for was the team he'd been telling me all along was offering him more money and years. |

dola, on 6.10
- Sometimes players signed for an obvious worse offer during FA compared to previous offers, that has been fixed

I thought that line in the readme was referring to the bug where some user-created FAs would always sign with the last team to make them an offer, whether it was the best offer or not. Guess it was just an assumption on my part, but FWIW, that's what I thought he meant.

I don't know if this is the case but I know that in some situations Markus mentioned that the FULL effect of some of the bug fixes would only take place with leagues newly created with the patched game and would not be fixed in leagues that continue created by earlier versions. Like I said this maybe the case here but I don't know and it may still be an issue but just thought I'd throw it out to you.

Can anyone explain this issue for sure? Would one definately need to begin a new career for sure to correct this problem if it is in fact a bug?

I was under the impression this got fixed, too. I thought that's what Markus meant. I don't like this at all. I know some players sign for less in places, but this happens to me a lot.
