In my younger (read: High School) days, I thought about doing this with an APBA league--but just didn't have the discipline. Now I have the discipline but not the talent.

I believe I could eventually crank out a book.

Bubba Jones, or Cotton Love, or a new dynasty I'm getting ready to start.

The problem isn't in developing material, the OOTP game engine alone provides a significant amount of material. The issues are the VERY small fanbase of text-based baseball sims, as well as the concept of making money off of this game.

I don't think Markus would like that very much.

Tib's dynasty is excellent, as are several others in this dynasty thread. Many of them would make excellent stories.

How 'bout we get together, and write a book of short stories?

Tib's story alone has pushed 90 pages, and mine, (http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ad.php?t=71962) which is basically a spin off of Tib's, has surpassed 30.

And some of these other dynasties are well past 50 pages...

Thanks to Tib for the inspiration to write it.

That would be fun. Time Warp has nearly 50 years of history to fall back on already, and many, many interesting characters.

I would think that 50 pages of forum posts, minus the stats and filler, would likely be around 20 text pages or so.

I'm game!

I think Henry, Tiger Fan, and Warren Peters are some of the most prolific stylistic writers we have. I believe that these three along with others could really make it a great read..

Thanks for the compliment, TC. I would definately be interested in contributing but I think my writing style is far closer to a newspaper reporter than a novelist.

So true. To my mind it would have to be a stand alone endeavor, with the hook being that OOTP was the inspiration/plot source.

Thanks, and I agree. I think Time Warp, Bubba Jones and Patrick O'Farrell are particularly rich in character and nuance.

Now that is an interesting idea... Many diverse stories coming from one source and showcasing the "sim-based fiction" genre might be enough of a novelty to gain attention, at least with gamers.

A book of short stories - I'd probably buy it. However, as good as these dynasty reports are, I'm not sure there's enough substance for one long novel.

You might be surprised. I believe I could write a good story of one of these dynasties, if I could follow along for a while... in depth. It is not that hard really.

I know that Short Hop could be a good novel, and Time Warp, with a bit of fleshing out, could be a series. Hell with enouhg of an imagination, you could make a whole book jut on one year alone I'd bet!
