CatoBase ltrans type mismatch SOLVED....possible OOTP bug?

So, I figured out what has been causing my ltrans import type mismatches, and I hope it fixes everyone else's too.

The ltrans file is pseudo HTML, with each player that is listed being inside an anchor tag with a reference to that player's html report page. Most player report pages have names like p1234.html and appear in the ltrans file as such, but for some reason a handful of players get entered into the ltrans file with html page names with an 'r' instead of a 'p'. When I remove those lines from the ltrans file, or change the r's to p's the import goes smoothly. I haven't tried an export yet, but hopefully it will work.

However, I wonder if this points to a possible OOTP bug. If you generate the league transaction report the same players that have the r1234.html report names are broken links. Strangely, if you go to the player pages themselves and ask for the html report it works, and the file is named with an 'r'. These players also have no career histories associated with them.

I'm going to crosspost this (or at least the bit about the odd entries in the ltrans file) in the troubleshooting forum, but I don't expect much back. It's a rather technical issue so I suspect only Markus can shed any light. At least we can continue to Cato, for now...

Well, the r### numbers are reserved for retired players, AFAIK... but I can't figure any scenario where you'd have retired players in the transactions, since retirements are recorded in the League News (lnews), without links.

So that does seem fishy... good find and good info.

Also, I should have noted that if you're looking for the fastest way to fix your ltrans.txt to import into Cato, a search and replace from =r to =p will get you there, since the player html page name always comes right after an = sign.

jmm=> I did wonder if 'r' meant retired, but these players haven't actually retired. Perhaps they plan to in the coming season?

Since I had simmed a number of seasons before trying to Cato, I do have the season that follows the one I noticed this problem in.....more odd behavior. No notes about these players retiring, but I can't find them anywhere. They do not appear when I do a 'Find player by name'

This is very odd indeed.

I'll try to contribute. I noticed one of my players, Robert Lubbers, retired and was inducted in the hall of fame in 2018. However, in 2019, he's still active, and he links to r___.html. There's something fishy there

Strangely, though players have retired in my league, my 'View all retired players' page is empty....is anyone else seeing this?

Thanks bro.

This fix helped a lot. Much obliged for the end to my frustrations. Cheers to Aggieland from the ATX.

Good find. If the issue comes up again, I'll know what to look for. Thanks for reporting it.

dola,

It is odd that retired players would show up in transactions, isn't it?

Unfortunately, the import side of things went smooth, but the export of HTML was a bloody mess.

Error 55 popping up everywhere. Back to the drawing board...

No solutions? Is it OK with 6.11?

After I finished my season in 6.10, I had to do the =r trick to get it to import, and I stopped exportation when I realized that player pages had twice the last season stats, one under the correct year, the other at year 0.

Bump.

I'd like to know if others have this working yet as well.

I've been playing around with it for 2 days now, having the same problem. Tried removing primary keys, allowing duplicates, everything I can think of in the catobase database. Nothin though.

I haven't had any export problems (aside from the extreme slowness of my computer ) after doing my =r to =p changes in the ltrans files. As far as I can tell, the output looks good. I have seen a few minor issues here and there that seem unrelated, but no show stoppers.

Also, I never did get a response back from Mr Cato himself. I entered a support ticket a week ago. I also emailed him and offered my help with CatoBase bug fixing and development, as I'm a programmer in need of a project, but haven't heard anything back. It's always bad when the lead developer of a closed source project like Cato goes missing. If it were open I could just hop in and start fixing stuff.

Oh well.
