Enough Already....

As a LONG TIME owner, but I rarely ever post about much here because I find the game so gratifying to me. I find it amazing on how much complaining is done about OOTP. It's getting harder and harder to come to this boards and find out the latest news or updates.

Just wondering here, but how many gamers can actually say the game is so bad it's unplayable because of bugs, glitches..etc, etc... I myself find it to be the best on the market for any genre of games. Every game..be it PC games, X-BOX, PS2, GAMECUBE...too many to name all, has it's problems. How many of these games has a glitch to them? I mean like in any console baseball, there is a certain place to pitch a ball that's it's unhittable. Or like in any console football game there is 1 or 2 plays that can be ran that is virutally impossible to stop. And to top it off you'd have to spend upwards of $50-60 on the game (WITHOUT EVER GETTING ANY UPDATES, PATCHES OR FIXES). I just can't understand where all the problems are that constantly are harped upon.

Upon saying this I do have 1 request from the OOTP team. I know everyone is allowed to whine and complain just as much as anyone is allowed to praise this game, but could you please get a bullentin board (or certain forum) exclusively for the people that have nothing better to do than bash this game? Just title the forum WHINERS. It's getting very difficult for me to keep coming back here.

BTW...I have check on many of these complainers previous post and guess what? That's all they ever do is complain. Yet, I bet they play the game every spare minute they have. So, if I have struck a nerve with any of you then by all means I'll be expecting a post or two telling me how wrong I am. So be it !!!

I have never met, talked too or conversed with anyone associated with OOTP ever. So if you want to call me a FANBOY go ahead, I'll wear that name proudly for the BEST DARN GAME EVER.

Let the bashing (on me) begin

I thought long and hard about whether I was going to weigh in on this, but as you can tell I finally decided to do so in a limited way.

I love this game, and feel it's the best of it's kind (no offense intended, Shaun, Marc, Gary, etc. - you all have spectacular games as well). I've had to spend less time on these boards because it finally showed up on a blocked website list for my workplace, but even then I've also become a bit burned out from the incessant infighting that goes on at times. To be honest, however, in my less-frequent trips to the board it seems I've either been able to stay clear of most of the politics or it has died down to some extent.

I will be back to a more active status sometime in the future (and hopefully sooner than later if I can figure out a way to side-step the blocker at work - any ideas would be welcome!!!). Hopefully my recent impressions of a kinder, gentler OOTP board will be fully realized at that time.

As an aside, there IS a board for people to complain. It says something like "ALL comments about issues, opinions, and support." The most common response I've about why complaints aren't posted over there is that not as many people frequent that board. I actually take that as a good sign. Also, if issues about the game were condensed entirely into one section it would be much easier for someone who has a certain problem to find others who've also experienced it and perhaps try their solutions to it.

Alright, I'll let everyone go and head off to work. See you guys later!

- Dan

Since I paid my money for the game just like you did, I have a right to complain about things that make it less than fun--or unplayable--for me. When I had positive things to say about v5 or v6, I said them. When I had negative things to say, I did so in a polite, mature manner.

Unlike certain other people here, I never insulted anyone and I did not jump into flame wars.

Because there are things about v6 that make it unplayable for me, I just don't play it. The issues I have complained about--here and in PMs to Steve and Markus--are apparently never going to be dealt with, so I just chalk it up to experience and that's that. I've returned to v5 and am happy with it.

I rarely come here to read or post, because the game is something most of you guys like and that's fine. Today is one of those rare times.

Again, the money I spent for OOTP6, and the verbal support I have given to the OOTP franchise in the past, give me the right to come here if I feel like it. And, as long as I am mature and courteous about it, I think I have the right to say what I want.

If you don't like what I have to say, that's your problem.

Seeing as how the big news and all the update threads are stickied... it really isn't that hard to find them...

Of course it seems there is too much complaining going on, but what's the alternative? I'd rather have this than anything that would have a chilling effect on people's bona fide complaints.

And we all forget sometimes that our opinions are not objective. Others can legitimately have a different point of view. That alone should not be a reason for silencing them.

Basically, there has to be a choice between silencing legit complaints or airing whining.

And of course, you have the ability to complain about the complaining, which is good as well. Until everyone can develop a level head and enough common sense to determine what is a proper complaint or what is a realistic expectation of Markus (at which point this board would be perfectly balanced), we'll have to deal with the guys who are jerks and want to run Markus' life for $30 in order to hear from the more justified viewpoints.

As far as I can tell, this thread came a couple of weeks too late.

I think it was likely "The Real Future of OOTP" or whatever that thread was called. Originally bumped by someone searching for facepacks, or something. I'd check to see, but then I'd have to get a new name. The guy who created this thread might have missed the dates (ending on September 20th or so) on that thread. (Oh, and then I bumped it up from 3rd newest to 1st again. Blame me! Blame me!)

Anyway, no big deal. I could be wrong, too!

Yep.

BTW - does anybody wonder why the new Bailey's commercial has people basically floating through the room yet then ends with the message "Please drink responsibly" .... now that's irony

Well, if they just stick to floating in their own homes, then that is drinking responsibly. It's when they try to float into the driver's seat of their cars when things get out of hand!

All i know is that i paid my money and im tired of waiting for Markus to make this game exactly like i want it to be. Come on it really cant be that difficult to program the game to each person's liking.

That of course was just a joke but that has been the message i get from all the complaining.
Now its allright to complain but i feel that sometimes we forget Markus is only one man and we expect our issues to be taken care of first. Not saying everyone does that but i think we need to remember its impossible for Markus to take care of every single thing that we dont like about the current version. If he could make it perfect im sure he would but then there would be no need for next years version and i kinda like to look forward to the next years version.
I know there are issues that people have been waiting to have fixed but im just saying the man is human oo. Theres nothing wrong with a complaint or bringing something to his attention but the "i paid money for this game and i want my complaint solved now", is in my opinion doesnt help much.

Like i said he cant predict every issue we might have with the game so couldnt we try and work around the problems if possible.
I know that we have had problems in the past and worked around them till he either fixed it in a patch or corrected in the next version. Of course not everything has been taken care of but Markus did his best and for the most part i beleive the community did their best with mods and addons and work arounds etc.

I guess i kind of miss the old days when we as a community tried to work with Markus to make the game better. Now days it seems like we do our best to make him want to say the heck with it.
The way i see it is like this, Yes there is problems with the game but if Markus doesnt fix it today i know that he is trying. We as a community want the game to be perfect but how much more do you think Markus does? I dont think hes put out 6 versions with out trying to improve the game each year.
Again im not talking about legit complaints but more the nit picking and the im never playing this game again types of attitude.
Anyways its up to each of us, we can either be patient and try working with Markus or buy another game.
This is just my opinion and im not telling you what you can or cant do but as for me i choose to be patient not just for the next version but for what some of the members of this community come up with as far as mods to improve the game.

I just wanted to post and tell you that I have the card that you use as your avatar. Pretty neat little piece of memorabilia.

I don't play OOTP anymore, but I do agree about the consistent bickering over the product. Yeah, people have a say...but it also seems as though they take that voice for granted, and Markus is at their will (where "they" is the group of people who do a lot of "You call this a patch?!" or "When is this going to be added? It's never been asked, but you should be able to read my mind!!!" stuff)

Keep in mind that does not extend to those things that were talked about before the game came out (ie H2H).

But I don't come in the forums and bitch and whine about people bitching and whining 24/7 like some do about their problems.

But whatever....Some of you guys will never ever be satisfied with anything about this game no matter how close to perfect it could get. Why even bother with the game?

I just wonder how many gamers have $40-60 games stacked up somewhere not being played. No patches, fixes or updates for them....

I done with this thread......I've already said more than I usually do on here.

if some of these people didnt complain about bugs, will they be fix today?

sometimes keeping quiet, means everything is ok with the game.

but i am glad people speak out and report whats wrong with the game..as long you do it in a nice way...

I still can't figure out how the bottles on the shelf behind the bar don't float in the "Zero-gravity bar."
