possible trade deadline bug

I'm playing a historical league (just installed 6.1), and there's no trading deadline. There also seems to be no option in League Setup for setting a trading deadline. Ideas?

Yes. And when I come to 7/30-7/31, I get the "deadline trading" message. But then I can conduct trades as normal in August and September.

Really need to know many more details about the league, any settings you changed and when, when the patch was installed, etc?

I'd be especially curious to know if you have waivers enabled or disabled. (Since the deadline really just means that you cannot trade without clearing waivers, if there are no waivers, it might make the deadline meaningless. The thing is... if it worked this way, I'd have figured to have heard about it well before now. )

I installed the game a few days ago, including the 6.10 patch. Haven't changed any important league settings from the defaults. Waivers are on.

I did try initiating a trade in September, and that caused us to go through waivers (IRL I thought you could only do waiver trades in August, but that's another issue). It was a computer initiated trade with me that went through as normal (w/o waivers, players showed up immediately in DFA box) in August that caused me to post this thread. Maybe it was a one time thing. Next season I'll try initiating a trade in August and see what that does.

(Edit: Now that I think about it, the trade may have been suggested before the trading deadline, and then I accepted it after the trading deadline. But it was definitely August when the trade went through.)

Had the players cleared waivers earlier in the season? In OOTP there isn't a new waiver period beginning 7/31 so any players already listed in the waiver box as cleared are able to be traded if IIRC.

I know my player wasn't on waivers when he was traded, but possibly the AI's player was.

It's not the month, it's where you accept the trade, I think.

After running a not-so-quick test (it took forever to get the AI to offer me a deal!), trades done on the Player Trade screen (initiated by the user) are requiring waivers, but trades done by email (initiated by the AI and accepted in the "Trade Window") are not.

A-ha! Coolness. Not a huge bug, since we can always decline those trades. I'll have to check when I get home tonight, but I wonder whether AI teams are making non-waiver trades with each other then...
