Players off into "limbo-land"?

I just noticed, in my solo fictional league, that when players are released they go off into nowhere. Prior to 6.10, they would go onto the Free Agent list. Now, I don't know where they're going. I can find them using the search function, but they're not on the Free Agent list. Is this supposed to be the way it happens now?

it seems like some go to the amatuer draft the following season

The releases are all funky. When I set my online league to allow GM releases, none of the players they release actually leave the team. Whenever I import, they are still sitting exactly where they were, despite the owners' repeated efforts to cut them. Somehow, making guys pass through waivers has screwed up the release function. I've posted on this days ago, and I feel it's fairly important...but nobody has been able to confirm it.
