Strat-o-matic Football?
Just wondering if anyone has played the computer version of this game and can provide any info on it. I have been to their website, but they really don't give much info about the game. I know that it is a replay, but am curious about:
Does the CPU make trades with other cpu controlled teams, cut players? How detailed is the play calling? Are there specific offense and defense plays, or just run inside/ run outside? It said that you can buy the computer version with cards... what would you need cards for on the computer version? I'd appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

CPU makes NO GM moves at all. Game is fairly solid otherwise.

Not sure about the absolute latest version, but the SOM Football that I have doesn't have a computer GM so to speak. But it does have a computer coach to play against if you're playing solo. It doesn't have pre-made team-specific plays or anything like that. You basically call where you want your running back to carry the ball or where you want your intended receiver to catch the ball. You can pick from a good amount of offensive and defensive formations. On defense you have lots of optios as to who to blitz, who to double team, where to position your safeties, etc.
You don't need the player cards. If you're old-school, you can play head-to-head with someone by just using the cards. If that ain't your bag, then don't bother ordering them. In summary, I've been a fan of SOM games for a long time. But they're best used to replay one particular season. It's not a game like OOTP where you run a franchise over the course of multiple seasons. |

Football Sims
If you want a solid replay football sim with great head to head play I would recommend Action! Football. I have played both games and this one is much more in depth. www.dksports.com

If these games at www.dksports.com are like Dave's work on Season Ticket Football 2003 ........... I would not buy the game. I bought STFB3 and it was so bug filled that I played less than 30 minutes - uninstalled and put the game away .... I looked for a patch or update that fixed the game but no luck ....... Does anyone else have the game.

Yeah, it's not bad.......but FOR ME I'd rather have FOF 2004 and a career mode. But APCF is a pretty good replay game.

Football Sims
I had similar concerns. From what I heard from Dave Season Ticket Football 2003 is no longer made. Action! Football is a totally different product. For replay's Action! 2004 has been more accurate than my newest version of strat. Strat simply has to many ties to a board game for my taste.

(IMO) ---- Dave's reputation for customer satisfaction is questionable based on STFB 2003.
That is why I would be very careful ....... since STFB 2003 is his product he should make it useable and not this junk ..... Thanks for FOF and TPF ...

Season Ticket
Quote:
Season Ticket was Infogrames/Atari's marketing title for 3 games by 3 different developers. Season Ticket Baseball = OOTP for those that don't know (no complaints here,I purchased STB(OOTP3),STB2k3(OOTP4)and just got OOTP6 Season Ticket Football = Dave Koch Sports(Developer of Action Football) admittedly it's as buggy as the day is long and one of my worst experiences, but for those familiar with the STB/OOTP situation, the developer usually creates the patch for the original(A la Markus' incredible support for OOTP and a few weeks later Infogrames publishes the patch for Season Ticket, well unfortunately this seems to have fallen through the cracks as I've seen many upgrades and service updates for Action Football on Dave Koch's site, but Infogrames never bothered to patch STFootball(the interface was workable enough, but there were too many other bugs to list, numerous crashes, and no sense of accuracy). Don't get scared off of Action based on Season Ticket,I recently purchased Action Baseball and while the Seasons are generally e-mailed or on 3.5(I don't have one),customer service created a CD on request,so the customer service is there and the game is pleasant enough(more of an APBA,SOM,DMB single seasonreplay game than a GM/Fantasy/Career Replay like OOTP) Season Ticket Basketball (I believe this is repackaged Fast Break Basketball)and I haven't played it enough to give a valid opinion (not enough coaching detail for me,and the whole NBA salary cap system makes the NFL look like preschool in terms of complexity. |

SO - If Dave is so attentive to customer service -- Why ?? didn't he "fix", "patch", or update Season Ticket Football ... He dumped it on the market (I got my copy after STBaseball 2003) took the money made and is now asking you to buy another game ...
NO - he needs to do something with STFBk3 first. It is reputation as developer .
