Update Problem
I've downloaded the update like 3 times now and whenever I try to open it tells me that it is not a valid archive. It seems to get to like 60% done downloading, then all of the sudden it says that the download is complete. Any ideas?

i had the same problem. The thing i did to fix it was to download it with the Opera webbrowser. With IE, it kept saying it was done even though it wasnt. Hope this helps.

Is anybody else besides me having this problem? Is this Opera web browser easy to uninstall? One of my pet peeves is having stuff on my computer I don't use.

A ton of other people have had this problem as well. The only thing people have said that works is 1) keep trying it until it works or 2) use a download manager.

Clear your IE browser cache and delete the incomplete file - that is how you get around this incomplete download issue. It has nothing to do with the patch - is most likely the fault of IE cache settings, AOL download problems (if that applies to you), or maybe server issues on the ootp side. To clear your browser cache go to tools-> internet options -> 'general' tab -> Temp Internet files section: choose the DELETE FILES button. Then delete the incomplete file on your hard drive, & download the file again.
EDIT: Or try the workaround of DLing from the FTP address (thx DuckBills) ! Last edited by Killebrew; 07-30-2002 at 04:38 AM. |
