My game will not start

I bought this game about a month ago. It will not run when I double click on the icon. I double-click on the icon and nothing happens. I have a top of the line computer with a Geforce 4 ti4600 graphics card. I run windows xp home and i've tried disabling directx and i do have the latest drivers. OOTP4

ALSO

It HAS worked before on my computer, and I HAVE tried reinstalling it.

What happens when you click on the game icon? You need direct X enabled for the game to work.

Nothing. I double click on it and nothing happens. With directx enabled. I hit ctrl-alt-del and not even a program related to ootp4 is running.

It doesn't sound like you have it installed properly if nothing happens. Probably need to check the link and make sure that it is setup correctly. Are you certain that you have not used all the licenses or that some other issues(non-OOTP related) have not caused this problem?

I recently left on a trip to my house in colorado, and then 2 weeks after spending their I went to alaska for a cruise, and I came back, computer un-touched since then. I have installed it properly because it has worked before, and I have only used one license key. From the sounds of it, you can't do anything to help solve my problem, so I'll just suck up the $30 loss and play Bball mogul 2003. Thanks anyways

I guess you have tried just rebooting the computer and then trying the game again?

Yah, don't worry about it im sure it is a problem with my computer , not the game. OOTP4 was a lot greater game than baseball mogul will ever be, just thought I would say that. Thanks for the help.

There has to be a simple solution, have you checked to make sure that the elicense is still there? I just thought of something go and check in the game folder the graphics options...make sure that they are set as you had them before. Sometimes when you install a patch or update those settings can get reset to default or something.

That is a symptom of (in order of severity):
1) Temporary system instability (simple reboot will correct)
2) Improper/incomplete installation (or uninstall/reinstall) of the program. With win98 it is possible to incorrectly uninstall a game by just deleting it's folder and this can cause reinstall issues.
3) If you have have had issues with any other new apps recently it sounds like a typical messed up registry error. That is, if you were running win98 - I have no idea whether XP has these same concerns though. XP users could help out by piping up - can you corrupt the registry of XP? Anyway, if it happened to me I'd bite the bullet and do a reformat.

It is likely system related on your end as you say - hopefully you can get it going, though Mogul (AKA OOTP Lite) is a fun game too
