What would make CatoBase truly perfect?

Alright, most of us acknowledge that CatoBase is a fantasitc utility, and Jeff has done a brilliant job. But what additions, subtractions, adjustments would truly make it perfect. The feasible would be more uself, but list anything that you think would be great.

1) My #1 request for CatoBase: use of historical stats. I wish CatoBase could somehow coordinate with the Lahman database, so if I wanted to start a historical league, or a new league, CatoBase already has a built-in history. One of the reasons I hate using CatoBase with a new league (a 2004 league) is because it cuts people stats off mid-career. Can't we import Bonds stats from 1987-2004, so when we look at career leaders in HR, bonds is at the top, and we don't just count the 25 he hit in 2004 (theoretically)? It may take a long time to complilate, but it would be great to have this option.

2) Same as #1, but with Win Shares. If I create a historical league in 1948, Ted Williams win shares from 1939-1947 should be in there, counted in career and player histories. I hate seeing only Ted's stats from 1948 on when I know he had 5 great years that isn't being counted for his career Win Shares.

3) Single game records. I realize this may actually be impossible.

4) The ability to choose Manager of the Year, WS MVP, and Fireman of the Year by itself. Built in equations that you could edit.

Totally agree with 1 and 4. One of the reasons I started a solo league was getting tired of seeing Alex Rodriguez or Eric Chavez as the AllTime leader in HRs.

I actually think this is being worked on, but I'd like to see leaderboards for Fielder Awards and All-Star Selections similiar to the new Championships Won leaderboard, both overall and by position.

Is there any way to include data from a season AFTER you hit proceed to next season? How do I get the report recognize past seasons in my totals?

no, not unless you have a backup from before you proceeded

Ootpj

I'm working on a Java-based OOTP add-on that will offer the features of Catobase and BOSI, along with a few other nice things. Take a look at our website, and feel free to contribute suggestions to our forums:
http://ootpj.sourceforge.net

OOTPJ is currently still under development and no releases have been made yet, so now is a good time to get in your suggestions.

Cato needs to get off his duff and get H2H working.

What? Cato is not an OOTP developer. He makes a 3rd party statistical program, and it's fantastic. Stop bitching about things you are obviously ignorant of.

Sarcasm people, sarcasm.

I wouldn't mind seeing post season records for each team.

Maybe I should have put a smiley in there, to better imply sarcasm.

Ah, well.

I'd love for CATO to be able to extract data from the almanac, for those of us who found it after not backing up a few seasons. Or for those of us who lost end-season files with an HD crash.

The almanac doesn't contain all the information necessary, but can't it already do that, in a limited way?

Okay, here's the ultimate Catobase improvement... Batter / Pitcher Matchups

Of course, it would probably exponentially increase the database size and/or compilation time, so we're probably better off without...

A page for the 30-30/40-40 seasons would be nice to have.

I'll third that.

I wouldn't mind seeing more stats and records for managers, maybe even progressive leaderboards for managers as well.

Progressive leaderboards are one of the coolest features, check them out if you haven't. I would like to see them added to the team record books as well, and maybe even playoff recordbooks.
