Post Bug? Maybe already covered

1) Wild card team wins 104 games and plays divisioal winner with 90 wins. Wild card team got home field advantage. Right or wrong?

2) I had a tie for division championship. Both teams make it to playoffs as division winner and wildcard. There was a one game playoff. This is wrong based on last years Houston & St. Louis tie.

Anyone with thoughts?

This is wrong in MLB, but right if the game just seeded the teams based on wins.

This is one area that MLB is screwed up. I'd prefer that OOTP have the playoff..

With regard to issue 1 here, if it's wrong in MLB than it should be wrong in the game. As a division winner, I lost a 7 game series to a wild card team who got home field and won game 7 at home. Before the series started, the commish of my league said it was in the software and he could not over ride the way the game set up the playoffs. If that's true, then it's an issue that needs to be fixed. If that's not true, then he lied to me. This game is supposed to emulate real life as closely as possible right? Giving home field to a wild card team is a major bug in my opinion.

While you cannot change the matchups generated by OOTP for the playoffs, you can change the schedule of a particular playoff matchup with the schedule editor.

It would have been possible to reschedule the games so that your team had home field advantage. Indeed, one could set up a 3-4 home field rotation for a best-of-7 series if one wanted, or for that matter have all 7 games played in the same park. You could also have all the games played on consecutive days if you wanted, or give teams an extra day off between city shifts.

To do any of this, simply wait until OOTP has automatically generated the schedules for the playoff round. Then, in the schedule editor, delete the games. Then add the games back in, on the days you want and at the parks you want. As long as you matchup in the games the same two teams that OOTP originally matched up, it should work fine.

At least, it did in past versions, so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work now as well. It's just that a lot of folks aren't aware that it is possible.
