GFnLL openings -- unique experts league
I've got a couple openings in the Grady Little League (GFnLL) (http://gfnll.com), a league running in its first year. We have a few major differences from, well, almost every other league out there. Among the major changes:
(1) Players are rerated each offseason based on MLB performance. This is why the league is paused at this stage. (2) The pace of the league is one year per year. We're currently in our first offseason and paused while we refill the league, having started in February. The offseason will actually be as long as the MLB offseason, but we'll run some sort of winter league for prospects only (announcement coming as soon as we've refilled the league as to the details, but modeled on the AFL) (3) We have adopted MLB-like draft and follow rules and so forth for draft classes. Draft is in the offseason using the June class. (4) We have MLB-like PTBNL rules and restrictions on trading prospects in their first year of development. (5) We are going to switch over from OOTP5 to OOTP6, so there will be a Rule 5 draft during the offseason. Unlike OOTP5, this draft will also include AAA and AA phases. Anyway, a little history. We advertised this league mostly within a Red Sox fan community as being intended for very good GMs. We initially got about 15 people that do qualify as very, very sharp (including a few that are probably off the scale in terms of baseball knowledge, write articles for SABR, and so forth), and we got another half that were less talented. My goal is to improve the quality as people leave by adding very good GMs. If interested, please email me at csteinh (at) fas (dot) harvard (dot) edu. Please be aware that this is a slow league, so you need to be committed to the long haul if you are going to rebuild. Please include previous experience and the like, since we plan to limit membership to the best applicants in order to maintain the quality of the league. |
