I've always been interested in doing something like that Dogzilla. But I've always been afraid that something would get lost in the importing. Have you ever had any problems?

It's a little tricky...
First, I use the "edit league structure" to add the new teams, change their names to "new team-east" or something like that so I know what division. I do this in both leagues. Then, I use the Team Importer utility to replace the new teams, using the other league as the source league. I've found if I do more that one team at a time, it corrupts the file (anyone else have this problem?), so I do one at a time. When I'm done, both leagues have all their original teams plus the new ones. I go back into "edit league structure" and delete the teams that have moved to the other league, Viola! Everything should be in place, career stats and all.

You know (and most of you do), this is one of the things that makes OOTP great. You can customize and mod pretty much anything you want. I wish more computer gaming companies realized the benefit of letting the customer actually play with his toy -- I'm looking right at you, Electonic Arts. It's the what ifs that keep me interested.
What if, in 1945, the powers that be decided to reunite the world thru baseball? Each country gets a team, maybe the U.S. keeps 10 or so (keeps some of the focus on teams you know). Spread the 1945 players out to the national teams and fill each nation's minors with players of that nationality. They'll take over in a few years. Maybe you have to start one player of that country's nationality each game. You put an asterisk in the players name if he's the right nationality for their team so you can spot them easily. I'm seeing the nation's flag as part of the team's logo. Talk about your rivalry games... What if they decided in the 20's that the game should be Ironman? On the Babe Ruth model, every player should be able to pitch as well. No specialization. Rosters of, say, 13. Those lineup decisions are a bit more tricky now, eh? What if I want to simulate my own local amateur league? Financials off, pitching staminas low (the 7th inning IS the beer inning after all). Use the names of relatives and friends (and enemies) as players. Yeah, Grandma is one hell of a closer but she IS 63 and Cousin Jimmy looks like the power hitter I need. So long, Grandma! See you at Christmas. |

You guys just made LIGHTNING strike my brain!
Only problem is I know I don't have the time to be a commish with uploading and various other aspects... Anywho, Here's the idea An Online League where the OWNER makes the league... The Owner 1) Chooses a city...gives it personality brings it to life 2) They pick out their own stadium, name and logo 3) Pick ONE attribute in which their team excels...defense, pitching, plate discipline, running instincts/steal ability...and this effects minor leaguers coming up through the minors via a random number generator. 4) Create their Front Office, managers and coaching staff for eye candy Plus the league will have a Player Agent/salary arbitrator instead of the terrible AI...so no more declining 8 yrs at 70 million because they don't "Want to be tied up so long" or being platooned and and wanting to test the market...plus the arbitrator side will sometimes side with the owner, if they player underachieves. Whoever wants to run with that be my guest...just let me know, cause I'd like to follow it or help as much as my time will allow

hey all; ive noticed a number of people mention short schedules (108, 120, etc) for their leagues. i do this frequently as well, mostly because it helps keep me interested in leagues that i play out every game.
i was wondering, for those of you that play with financials on, how people compensate for high player salaries in these league? lets say yr doing a fictional league that uses a number of small market teams. less games = less money. however, when the free agents start making demands, signing, etc, they still receive huge salaries. many times, it seems like their demands are so high that no team can afford them. they start out as free agents and end up getting signed within the first several weeks after the beginning of the season. ive followed a player (who actually won an MVP one year) basically go unsigned every pre-season (for about 5 yrs before he retired), until someone picks him up late into the first month of the season. he then signs a (large) one year deal and repeats the pattern next season. so i end up giving teams a high ceiling for cash and sometimes tweaking tv revenue. essentially, im wondering how to address a small market league with ootp's native financial structure thats geared toward MLB type markets. v' |

I've been working on a fictional league idea for some time. I had originally tried this as an online league, but the file corrupted and really screwed up the installation of OOTP6 on my computer. I had to disband the league.
![]() Concept: 2 6-team ficitonal leagues (the Super 6 and Tier 1) 124-game schedule Promotion-Relegation system (like European football) The bottom team in Super 6 is relegated to Tier 1. The top team in Tier 1 is promoted for following season into the Super 6 (S6). I will use all fictional teams, cities, player, stadiums. Located in the fictional country of Azaria. For a map of Azaria, click here. The map was created with Fractal Terrains Pro (wonderful program) then further edited by Paint Shop Pro 7 (PSP7) - another great program. I am currently creating the league and developing everything needed to run it. Deciding on the cities to be used. Some of the larger cities for sure ![]() I then plan on running the league and just watching what happens I don't intend on playing any team, just watching the results. Financials will be off, and I really liked the idea of a 21-man roster, so that's in there now ![]() I've done some preliminary testing, and moving a team before starting each year works out okay. It seems to keep the stats, etc. without difficulty. I tested a 6-season run and it was pretty cool. What do you guys think of this idea? Side Note - Azaria is a nation I run on the fictional world of Eshraval where you actually take on the role of a nation, interacting with other players. My ultimate dream is to one day have the world full of player-nations, and run a huge tournament in OOTP6 by importing teams and having a true World Series of Eshraval Also have Domestic tournaments between teams from various domestic professional league and so on. Probably a bit too big of a dream, but one can always hope. It's also great to see so many others who are working with their own fictional leagues. I love all the creativity!

Looks fantastic! I'm embarrased that I posted my map now!
I think you'll like the 21 man roster idea and shorter season. In the past, I've struggled to learn ALL the players in my league because there are just so many 100 ab backups to worry about. With the smaller roster and shorter schedule, you really get a "core team" feel for each squad. Just one thing, you might want to think about reducing injuries with the smaller roster size. ![]() And thanks for the kind words. I am proud of my map making ability as it stands now . . . but it took me a LONG time to get there. A lot of learning, practicing, and a lot of deleting But with enough practice, any can learn to do a good map I think. It's all about determining what you find appealing. Also, the one thing I find particularly annoying in the game is that you can't customize the nationalities of the players. I have to export them all, change them manually, then import them back after creation. Just a little pet-peeve of mine.

So if you'd rather have "Zog Spaceboot" than "Jose Castillo", you can replace the name files. It might take a while, but you won't have to manually edit them any longer. |

I will have to go through and change them all the AZA, by exporting to CSV then changing, the importing back.I think it would be nice to be able to edit the nationalities.

This is pretty cool.
I've given a try to doing my own league as well (as found in my signature), its' actualylo quite fun although i've based it more on real life as for maps, that'd be a challange to fit on here

I had previously posted in Dynasty forum...my desire to start a league based on prisions. ....because of the Holidays and work commitments I had previously been unable to get idea off the ground, but in the last few days have begun putting together the New York Penal League: The Real Murderers Row. My plan is to sim solo for awhile and see how things work out, but I eventually plan on making it an online league.
Essentially, all franchises will be based in New York State Maximum Security Facilities, and all prisioners will be forced to play baseball as a form of rehablitation. It has a unique set of problems, but is an idea that I wouldn't mind sharing with those who are interested in helping me work through some of the kinks. |

I've always liked the idea of a league set in medieval times. Now travel was much slower then, so the franchises would have to be really close to eachother - like within the same city. Well, two cities, one per league.
So what kind of teams would there be? I'm thinking teams sponsored by guilds, nobles, merchants, neighbourhoods, and so on. I'm thinking of doing this next time I start a new solo league.

![]() I was thinking of setting it in one of my own fictional worlds...that way I would have more freedom with the teams and so on. The only drawback is that the locations would all have to be changed, and I'm far too lazy to do that. I'd probably just leave them as is, and ignore them. As for financials, I always play solo with those off, so I'll just continue in that fashion. For the headshots, I'm thinking of just using the old early 20th century facepacks available and asigning them randomly to the fictional players. Not accurate, I know, but I need faces to enjoy a solo league.
