Attention OOTP Community! (Read)

I've found a way to get everyone in the OOTP Community together into one league. I call it OOTP Community League (OCL). Here's how it works.....

In OCL, You have 3 sections, League Government, League Owners, and League Players. You can only be one, so choose carefully I'll briefly describe the 3....

League Government
Controls the league, does not own any players or teams. Makes sure league is run fair. The Positions are assistant commish, IL League President, AL President, Owners Representative (an owner from the league that the owners vote for), League Reporter, Players Agent Representative, and Player's Representative (Players Rep. is a player from the league who the league voted on to speak at league meetings). I'd like these people to be experienced OOTP Members, as they know the fair way to run things. If you'd like to be a part of the government, email me at oclcommish@yahoo.com with your name, age, OOTP experience, and what position you'd like to be.

Owners
Owns one of the 8 franchises, does all the management issues
(Once Again, I'd like the Owners to be experienced with OOTP)

League Players
As of right now, consists of 112 people, plays in the games and watches their career form right before your eyes.

Here's how it works. It's an 8 team, 160 game season where everyone in the game is a real person from the OOTP Community. You create your real self (real name, or fake if you prefer to be private) into the game as one of the 3 positions above. It works just like a normal league does, with all the simming and such except you are the players and owners and you control the league!

The website is http://ootpcommunityleague.tripod.com/index.htm (I know i hate the banner too, will upgrade it to a professional site once it shows promise)

Read the rules, and then you can start! Sign up for a player or an owner (Note: There are only 8 players allowed for each position and 32 pitcher slots available so hurry and sign up!). Fill out the owner or player form and email it to me at oclcommish@yahoo.com

I will continue to update the site and make it a lot nicer then what it is right now as the week progresses. If you have any suggestions feel free to share, as it will take more then one person to get this league in the right direction. If we work together on this, it could be the best thing since... spam

As of 5:40 Eastern Time, we have 19 players, 1 League President, and 2 Owners. This is remarkable the way the league is going. The post has only been up for about 8 daytime hours, and night time is usually when most of the people come. It's looking good folks

As for the website, We will have our own free website with no banners up and running by tomorrow night! Keep up the good work folks

(Note: We need some 2B, SP's, and RF. 1st base and 3rd are the popular spots so far)

I'd be interested in being an agent but I'm a little confused as to how it works.

Does an owner just ask me if a player would sign this deal and I tell him yes or no?

And would I do every player because I imagine that would be a very lenghty process.

An Agent works as follows:

-Talks to his players that have to re-negotiate a contract
-Comes up with an offer from the player to owner
-Talks to the owner if the player is worth the offer
-Decides with owner what would be the best deal for the player
-Consults with player on what the deal would be

This goes back and forth until an agreement is reached, or the player files for Free Agency

If u want to do this for every player, go for it. There will be around 30-50 players per year that need to re negotiate contracts. If u want to be the only agent, that's great. If not I'll hire a few more

As it stands we have 26 players, 3 owners, and the IL president. We are reaching my goal of 30 in 24 hours (still have 4 hours to do so).

Here is the updated list of players
http://ootpcommunityleague.tripod.com/playerchart.htm
As you can see, we need pitchers!

Alabama, Detroit, and Boston all have owners

I AM STILL LOOKING FOR A CO-COMMISH! Please notify me if you are interested, oclcommish@yahoo.com

Teams that have owners: Minnesota, Boston, Detroit, Alabama

(Note: I will be gone all day tomorrow, on a trip to Boston and will be back around 7 PM eastern. If someone could bump this thread to the top whenever it leaves the first page that'd be great!)

BTW -- You gonna sign on relief pitchers too, or just have computer generated players there?

I want to be a player, but at 37, I'll play maybe 2 years. Am I allowed to be younger?

This is a great idea. Count me in. I will email you tonight. I think I will be a player, but havent' decided yet.

Oh, I think you should have a reporter for each team. I think that would add a lot to the whole atmosphere. They could be biased towards "thier" team. Could even do interviews with the players and owners.

Just a thought. Anyway, I like it.

Well, I was going to offer up some of Geiiga.com, but I'll wait to start a full free hosting of leagues that look like they're worth it until OOTP5, due to some weird contract arrangements with my provider.

It's a great idea, and you'll be receiving an e-mail from me promptly at 11am Central.
