Generic Catobase Question

Because I am here all the time, and you people are just as knowldedgable as Jeff Cato himself on this wonderful database, I have some general questions about it:

1)When Catobase runs, is it supposed to run through every prior season including the most recent?

2)What is the average time it takes to run? (This is more of a run-on of the previous question...for me it keeps escalating, going over 3-4 hours)

3)Does OOTP have to be running in the background for it to work?

That's all I was wondering. Thank you for the feedback.

1) not exactly sure what you mean, but only the most recent year imports into the DB
2) depends on your computer, and how big your database is (more years, more teams, more stats, bigger DB)
3) nope...runs quicker without it

1) you can set it to run only the last year or all previous years too
2) to give an example - 6 years worth of stats, no separate LH/RH split pages, no player photos, took 1hr 12min on my machine (2.4g P4M, 512 ram). if you have anything running in the background, especially anti-virus software, it will take a lot longer.
3) no

1) As was mentioned there is an option to change between doing all years or only the most recent. The only time I do all years is when there is a new version that has added feautures.

2) This depends on #1(the number of past years) and your league size, amoung other factors. I just ran catobase on my 12 team league with 17 years of history and it came in at around 1:30.

3) No, and catabase will probably run faster if you close ootp.

Thank you very much everyone. They were just lingering questions I was asking myself and getting no answers to.

Thanks again!

Catobase History..

I am in my 84th season and it took 20:14 last time I ran the utility. I am going to put it on a second machine and just network the files so that I can play the game while it is processing. I would like to see an option to just create HTML pages on the fly as required to be viewed or a table in the database to keep the leaderboard stats in so that it does not take so long to recreate each time. I generally wait 10 seasons until I run the utility...

But I thought you had to run it after every season????

Anyways, here's a new question:

In the Team Info section, where you can show that one team moved/changed names and became a new team (in the PrevTeam field), can that be undone? Example: My Detroit team moved from Lansing, but I forgot to show that in the year it happened. So Lansing is shown as an old franchise and Detroit a new one. I just discovered that you can link the franchises, so I attempted to do it, but now I get an error (Error 94; I forget what it says at the moment). The error doesn't occur until it is establishing the Division Standings for the league (in other words, 3.5 hours later). So I sit around waiting to see if it works and I just wasted all that time. Is there a remedy, or should I just go ahead and deleted it all (I didn't back up any files or anything of that nature)?

You have to import the data every season, but you don't (necessarily) have to create the web pages every season.

The other question is way over my head.

Are your Cato files available online? Would love to take a look at a league with 84 years of Cato History. Is it fictional or historical?

Yeah, under Edit/Team Info, choose the year at the top.

I can take a look at your database, if you want. I can set something up so you can upload it my website, unless you have somewhere I can download it from.

I know you can change the year but I want to undo it. Meaning, I had tried to link Lansing and Detroit, but after I did that multiple errors occured. Is there anyway to unlink them, or do you know what Error 94 is?
