OOTPv5/v6 Crashes Generating League Files
Something has happened to my v5 game. I simmed my online league games the morning like always; however, when I went to generate the reports, the game did the player reports fine, but it crashed when it went to do the league reports.
The problem is not in my .lg folders, as I tried generating the reports in other league folders, but it crashed there too. I installed the v5 game clean on another partition, but even the new install crashed at the same point... generating league reports. Everything worked fine yesterday. The only thing I have done in the interim is uninstall NAV2004, and install NOD32. I'm wordering if the uninstall of 2004 might have removed a file/application needed by OOTPv5. Any ideas, suggestions, etc? Your help will be greatly appreciated. Edit: Just discovered that my v6 game is also crashing at the same place. I downloaded a new ntdll.dll file, but that didn't help. I created an ms-error report, but can't find it on my hd. Last edited by Tresclub; 08-19-2004 at 04:51 PM. |

In looking through the list of files, the game generates all the boxscores ok, but then crashes when it goes to do the box.html report. I've concluded that the problem is not in the game, since both my v5 and my v6 games both crash at the same point, and fresh installs of both games did not solve the problem. It must be a missing windows file or application. I ran the ms-error report, but I can't find it on my hd.

I have been deleting and installing baseball games all afternoon and evening (except when I took timeout to watch Amanda, Michael and Carly), and I am at a total loss as to how to resolve this (other than re-installing WinXP-Pro).
I am, however, convinced more than ever, that is must be a missing Windows file or application, as both of my baseball games (OOTP5 and OOTP6) crash at exactly the same point. I would post my ms-error report for you to look over, but I don't know where it is located on my hd. |

OK, here it is. Wednesday afternoon I deleted my NAV2004 and System Works 2002 programs, and installed a new anti-virus program: NOD32.
With NAV2004 installed, several of my applications on my PIII/933 512mb ram system, including v5 and v6 of OOTP, slowed down to a snail's pace. This was not a surprise, as NAV2004 has a reputation of being a terrible resource hog. So, I purchased and installed NOD32, and much to my delight, my system speed returned to those days of yesteryear; however, unbeknownst to me, there is apparently something in the NOD32 program, that causes both v5 and v6 to hiccup when it tries to generate the league html reports. I deleted NOD32, and the reports ran fine. Installed NOD32, and the game crashed. I repeated this process three times with the same results: With NOD32, the game crashes, without NOD32 the game runs fine. Bottom line is... there is a conflict between NOD32 and the OOTP games when it comes time to run the league and team html reports. Perhaps you programmers can figure out where the glitch is hiding. |

I was told that there was a beta version of NOD32 out that was supposed to fix some html issues.
So I downloaded, and installed, the beta version. Yes! Yes! Yes! The beta version of NOD32 fixed the html conflicts. My baseball reports just ran like they were supposed to.
