Forgive me for being dense but what does the Indianapolis logo represent?

Actually that is a simple wheat logo...in my league the team is called the Indianapolis Farmers. I was looking for clip art of a wheat stalk but nothing really looked like it would have been capable of being reproduced by 1920s embroiderers...so I went with this fairly abstract idea. I don't love it, but hopefully it's the least useful of the bunch.
