Greatest Generation has a couple of openings

For anyone interested in a hybrid-historical league, Greatest Generation Baseball has a pair of openings: the Detroit Tigers (currently in the World Series which is concluding tomorrow) and the Chicago White Sox.

The league started with the 1941 season with the premise being "what if WWII didn't cause so many players to serve their country?" - we're just finishing up the 1953 season and still have more than half of our original GMs. We expanded by 4 teams in 1946 (using the "extra" players who came into the league during the war years).

We are planning to expand this season, but I will hold expansion if I can't get the existing teams filled (why expand when you don't have enough GMs to fill the existing teams?). The player ranks will be swelled by players out of the old Pacific Coast League.

We sim 4 times per week - M, T, Th & F, alternating 7/8 gamedays per sim to do a month's worth of games per week or real-time (making our regular season six weeks long).

We draft rookies two years ahead of debut - the rookies drafted this coming off-season will debut in 1956 and use full finances, but no coaches/scouts.

If you're interested in signing on, please email me at commish@legendsport.com

Thanks for checking us out,
Joe Cronin

Just an update (and the bump doesn't hurt of course): the White Sox have been taken.

The AL Champion Tigers remain available. This is a very, very good team which will need a steady and astute hand (they're a veteran team which could be getting long in the tooth) to stay on top with expansion and re-alignment coming.

We have a very solid group of GMs - knowledgeable, active guys who aren't afraid to make a trade. Take a look at the league forum to see how active the league really is. Check out the trade section especially.

Guys, this is a great league and my Detroit team is a super team, I have just plain run out of time to manage them. This team has won their division an incredible number of times since the league has begun. Yes some of the players are getting a little older, but this isn't the first time that has happened, you just make a few trades and grab a few free agents, it isn't rocket science. A player like OF Jim Lemon is also waiting in the minors ready to start slugging HR's. I really want a capable owner to take over this team, I have been running them since the league began, I hope one of you baseball minds has the time to take on the responsibility. Thanks Jim
