1 game playoff
The CLB had 2 teams in the same division end tied, instead of the game having a 1 game playoff to see who the division winner was it, gave it to a team. Am I wrong in thinking that it should have been a 1 game playoff instead?

Depends. If the "other" team is going to be the wild card, in R/L they don't play a playoff and use tiebreakers instead. (head to head, divisional record, etc.)
Somebody mentioned a similar problem a few days ago, though... so two questions: 1) Does the league have wild cards? 2) Was the non-pennant winning team the wild card that year?

we do have the WC, and no the "losing team" did not get the WC spot.
another strange thing was 2 teams in a different division had a 1 game playoff when neither team was in the hunt for a WC spot or Division crown.

Anyway, it sounds like OOTP fudges the tiebreaking procedures a bit in leagues with a wild card. It always uses tiebreakers rather than a playoff, even when one of the teams will miss the postseason due to a tiebreaker. Must be one of those "design decisions" to use an "abstraction" of the real life system...

I guess we were ASSUMINg that we would have a 1 game playoff, and after all the drama we had to close the season. 2 races were being decided on the final day, 1 game involed both team in the WC race (that one went 19 innings, and we broadcast that one. That was GREAT drama) It was just a letdown to not have that 1 game playoff.

IF [tied teams are not in contention] THEN schedule playoff ELSE do not schedule playoff Seems like this should have come up before now, though...
