Commish OOTP-ANT Build Script
Working on a ANT build script that automates the steps to update website. Looking for volenteers to test the install steps and make comments.
If interested goto http://commishtools.ootp.us/ Please post comments on the forum. Hope those that try the tool like the tool. Again this is pretty much just for those running a league. The script basically will to the following (After all in game processes are complete): 1) Backup the zip files uploaded from the previous sim 2) Create two zip file - Full and small 3) Create the BOSI import files 4) FTP the Zip, Import, and Reports files to the Server Thanks,

Sounds good, I'd be interested in testing it out.

It's a nice little utility, just not very user friendly to people who may not understand how to change some things around.
After I get it configured to not grab the photos and almanac folders, I think it will be nice to use. As it is now, the main zip file is over 50mb because of all the photos and almanacs. I kinda wish the small zip file was comprised of everything that has been altered in a user defined number of days. That way you could set it to grab everything in the past 3 (or whatever number of days are inbetween each sim in the league) and it would take every file modified in those days. That's how I already go about creating our small league file with time options in WinRAR. I also upload a zip file of the online league report and then unzip it on the server. I'm not sure what this utility does for it yet because I've been messing around with the league file zip stuff so far. |

Nice Feedback.
I will think about how to put in to small file time deal. I am not sure how I could do it but if not I you could always call the zip program your using from with the script and have it build it like you are now. Kind of the exit it does to do the BOSI exports. How do most commish do there small file? All of mine seem to just zip up the root files of the league dir. On the Report file it just uploads them one at a time. I guess I had never heard of anyone uploading a TAR file or zip file and unzipping them on the server. I would do that at work since I have access to a SSH shell but with my ISP I don't. Well Do you think that most commish do it that way or just upload the files one at a time. Did you see my post on the site on how to change it to not grab photo files? To do the almanac files just change it to excludes="PHOTOS/**, ALMANAC/**" And that should work. Thanks again for your feedback. I published this because I use it and it helps me save time while running sims and if one other commish out there gets some use out of it then it was worth it to me. As it is it is nothing more then a ANT script meaning most of the tooling it uses I did not write just exploit to do what I need to have done after the sim is done. Thanks, Scott Stewart </pre>

I'm not sure how most commishes upload the report. I've just found that uploading a zip of the report and unzipping it on the server is much, much faster.
I like how the small file is now. My suggestion would be to have a small file, weekly file, and full file. The weekly file would have the cutoff dates like I mentioned before, and the full file would be everything. I know BOSIv2 doesn't have links for 3 files, but I'm sure that could be changed. I'm just now starting to use the new version so I haven't messed with it much yet. If nothing else, this will be useful to me for creating the league files after I get it configured how my leagues run, and for the BOSI exports. Thanks for the reply/discussion. I'll try the suggestion on the photos and almanacs folders and see if that fixes it. |

Alright, after messing around with this for a little while last night I got it to do everything I want.
- Exports BOSI files and uploads them - Zips up full league file (without photos or almanacs folders) and small league file and uploads them - Zips up everything in league report folder and uploads the zip file of the report Very, very, very nice tool that is very useful and a huge time saver. Only thing I have to do is actually create the league report, unzip the report on the server, and update BOSI. Everything else is automated thanks to this script. Thanks Scott! |
