The Greatness of the Raiders

looks like it's not too early to stock up on your 2004-05 Superbowl Champion Raiders gear...

Raiders sell NFL's most merchandise — again

Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) - The Oakland Raiders sold the most NFL merchandise for the third straight year, while the New England Patriots, winner of two of the last three Super Bowls, vaulted from ninth to second.

The sales cover the period from April 1, 2003 through March 31, 2004.

The NFL announced the rankings Thursday. Following the Patriots and Raiders, the other teams in the top 10 are Green Bay, Dallas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, San Francisco and Miami.

Green Bay made the top 10 for the eighth straight year while Atlanta made it for the first time since 1992.

In addition, the league reported that Terrell Owens' Philadelphia jersey is the top seller among players on NFLShop.com. Owens signed with the Eagles in March.

Michael Vick's Atlanta jersey is second while the New York Giants jersey of Eli Manning, the first player taken in April's draft, is the seventh best seller.

Peyton Manning, Eli's brother and the NFL's co-MVP last year for Indianapolis, ranks 20th.

I don't think it is an ode to the team as much as it is to the wonderful fans they have. Say what you want about a 4-12 team, they still know how to bring em. I wish i could say the same about my poor Chargers, however, we are the laughing stock of that list. I am willing to bet we are 30th.

Speaking of Raider fans, we are doing a autograph signing with a bunch of Raiders this weekend and I am really looking forward to seeing these guys comming out in full force.

This is understandible. Raider gear is standard gang uniform apparel isn't it? If I was in a gang I'd be stocking up ontheir gear too. They should make a Raider branded automatic weapon, I'm sure it would be the number one seller.

im going to have to agree with karros270. whenever i see one of these gangsters around here the first thing i see is a raiders jersey. But one thing makes me laugh is when its a rich gannon jersey, kinda funny.

People have to feed fires with something. Black jerseys burn well.

The entire board vs. LivnLegend really is becoming a hammer-and-nail rivalry.

I'd rather be a fan of the greatest franchise in sports and take my lumps once in awhile rather than ever claim to be a Chiefs or a Broncos fan!

As much as I hate to say it, the Raiders have a certian mystique about them, and you gotta respect that. The fans always go balls to the wall. You can't really say that about many other teams. As for the gang thing, that really is so 1994, what does a Rich Gannon jersey have to do with what gang you support, none. The only gang they support are the Raiders. Hell, i still see people in Ryan Leaf jerseys.

LL, Teyo Johnson, Jack Tatum, Ben Davidson and Dokie WIlliams are going to be in Whittier tomorrow afternoon, signing autographs. If you got any questions, let me know, or visit the autograph link in my profile.

If it wasn't for the salary cap, the Raiders would be the Yankees of the NFL. That's simply because their owner wants to win more than any other owner in the game.

I can't think of a better quality for an owner, and by extension, a team to possess.

The Oakland Raiders are the greatest franchise in professional sports.

End of discussion.

The Raiders have won 3 Super Bowls. They aren't even the greatest franchise in their OWN sport.

Redskins 3
Packers 3
Steelers 4
49ers 4
Cowboys 5
