Pitches
I noticed that in many rosters i downloaded pitchers dont have their real pitches....i mean Barry Zito doesnt have his curveball, Randy Johnson his slider.....and these are their best pitch.....is there any roster where this aspect has been taken into consideration?

Currently in OOTP "pitch types" mean nothing except to enhance the pbp.

For all I know then my pitcher might be throwing a 90 mile an hour Knuckleball. That kinda stinks to know! Hopefully next years version will have it so you can choose which pitches you want your pitcher to throw the most of to a batter.
I want detailed scouting reports on each batter on how well he can hit the curve ball when it's 2 inches off the plate. I want to know how well he can hit the inside fastball. I want to know EVERYTHING. My college baseball team even knew everything about our opponents. Perhaps we could as managers next year. "Man, this guy can't hit the high fastball worth crap. Let's throw the high heat then." Not... "Man, this guy is good. Let's just throw control at him?? Whaaat? |

Just to differentiate from what the question was about, velocity DOES have an impact on the player (in stuff development, for instance).

Well, having pitch types make a difference in the game is something that we want to add, though there is no timetable when.

Markus said once that high velocities for young pitches give them a higher chance to develop well. You'll also get more strikeouts with a higher velocity, which is very good in a DIPS engine.
